Thanks in advance,
Paul

Not from Fedora for licensing issues. Try adding the rpmfusion repos.

What licensing issues are there? And what ASX file format do you refer to?
I ask, because Audacious includes a plug-in for the v1/v2 ASX format.

I refer, for instance, to the following stream, which cannot be listen on Rhythmbox:
http://tsf.sapo.pt/tsfdirecto.asx

This is an xhtml file, rather different from what an asx file is supposed to look like (see for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Stream_Redirector). So I have the feeling that the problem is not on your side. Can you try another asx stream?

That seems to be some server-side script that redirects to: http://pesquisa.sapo.pt/tsfdirecto.asx?q=tsf&host=tsf.sapo.pt&ptr=1 I don't the time to visit all those search results and try to locate a real valid .asx file. The same page also uses .aspx, btw ;-)

Thanks to all respondents. I am now listen to other ASX streams perfectly. Therefore, the reported problem seems to be confined to that particular stream.

Well, it's a web page, not a stream. A media player doesn't know what to do with a web page. Have you visited the page with your web browser? It shows search results for the search query "tsf". Where do you find the claim that it's a stream?

Thanks, Michael. I have just found the address of the stream!

As an addendum, fedora tries to be Free Software, while other distributions are Open Source. For a really good history between the two I'd recommend watching the movie Revolution OS on YouTube which sets out the whole thing and provides a lot of history to boot.

The gstreamer-plugins-ugly package (in rpmfusion-free) looks promising.
