Hi
Just installed Fedora 13. Upgraded from 12..
My movie player will not work.
Error message below..
The playback of this movie requires a Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) demuxer plugin which is not installed.
Neither yum or the package manager could find it.
I googled and got a 1000 hits.. After checking I am not sure who/what to trust...
Is there a trusted Fedora site where I can get this codec??
TIA
Marvin

That plugin is provided by the package gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.15-1.fc13.i686
On my machine, I have also installed:

You need to set up the RPM Fusion repository, after that, PackageKit should be able to automatically install the required codecs.
Hi
This is something I have not done before..
It there a HOWTO or ??
Thanks
Marvin

You need to enable rpmfusion (rpmfusion.org) repo.

There is, if you go to that website. The front page has a link which says: "Enable RPM Fusion on your system"
-c

I am getting this error now.

You're missing the public key, which packagekit isn't happy about for some reason. Add the rpmfusion repositories using the command line above (or follow the website), then update yum which should prompt to import the key:
su - 'yum check-update' su - 'yum update'
-c

HI
Yum update yum check-update
seems to have solved the problem.
Thanks everyone.

You probably want to file a bug against yum for this.
Richard.
Dmitrij S. Kryzhevich:
You need to enable rpmfusion (rpmfusion.org) repo.

Well, somebody using that computer mas have done that. Because Fedora 12 didn't have an ASF CODEC, either. And the most likely source for it would have been RPM Fusion, as well.
Once you get this going, make a few notes for yourself, so you find it easier when you transition to Fedora 14 or 15.

You need to enable rpmfusion (rpmfusion.org) repo.
You can install these rpmfusion repos:
For Fedora 12 and 13: Install them with the very long command:
sudo yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noa... http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stab...
For Fedora Rawhide and what will become Fedora 14 (Alpha, Beta and snapshots):
sudo yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-rawhide.no... http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-rawh...
Each sudo command is all one line, so do not break it up

Is the installation that "new"? Anyhow hope he can install it.

Given his opening line was "just installed Fedora 13" I'm guessing so ;-)

..and then I should read the next sentence which was "upgraded from 12" so you're right, it might not be that "new" ;-)

I would download the rpmfusion repos and install vlc and its dependencies.

Here's a great site maintained by the Fedora Unity members that you should search before you look anywhere else
