problems to install NetBeans 8 on fedora 27

Hi,

I installed many times NetBeans in a linux environment, without problems ...
But now I have problems to do it , after then I installed fedora 27.

When I try the installation,   the output that I get is :

This is a problem about the java environment ?
it can be also a problem with the graphical environment of fedora ... (?)

I worked around many time without a result...

Can I have some help please ?

I  installed the last jdk version of Oracle:
yum localinstall /home/angelo_dev/Downloads/*jdk-10_linux-x64_bin.rpm*

Hi there, you need JDK 8 from Oracle. Using OpenJDK can crash your
installation process:

Please check:
$ java -version
$ javac -version

make sure it Oracle java, else you can download Netbean that bundle with
JDK here (
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-netbeans-jsp-...
)

Then for installation, please chmod you installer as executable file first

(If you already hava Oracle JDK and want to use existing installer)
$ chmod a+x ./netbeans-8.2-linux.sh
$ ./netbeans-8.2-linux.sh

(if you use Netbean bundled with JDK)
$ chmod a+x jdk-8u171-nb-8_2-linux-x64.sh
$ ./jdk-8u171-nb-8_2-linux-x64.sh

No need to run installer as root, since I saw you run it as root #

An application running as root can't access the display when using Wayland.

I downloaded all  together (jdk and NetBeans)   from the Oracle site... :

After I posted the previous message I learned more ,
and now I am about sure that the  problem come from the graphic environment
of Linux...

After I Installed Fedora 27 I got to use a Wayland session of gnome,
instead the usual X11 session :

if I do :
*loginctl show session 2 -p Type,*
I get
*Type=wayland*
instead that
*Type=x11* (that is the value I get on computer where is Fedora 21)

Wyland is not good environment for running the graphical program that is
used to install netBeans... (the .sh script)

So I am looking now how I can return to  session X11 inside Gnome...

I found a clue to change the session type of Gnome.. :

I edited the file  /etc/gdm/custom.conf ,
end  uncommented the row :

#WaylandEnable=false

...

After I made it, (now) I get

*Type=x11  *(as output of loginctl show session 2 -p Type,)

but
as well this , the output that I get running the .sh script is the same..

Did you reboot or at least restart gdm after making that change?  The 
easier way is to click on your name at the login screen.  Before you 
enter your password, there is a little gear.  If you click that, you can 
choose the "Gnome on Xorg" option.  Then enter your password.

As been mention from my previous reply. You need Oracle JDK.
This doesn't related with wayland or x11

Except that you are wrong.  I just tried it with X11 and it worked fine. 
  The problem is only that Wayland doesn't allow root applications to 
access the display.  (And possibly also that he only has the headless 
Java package installed.)

Robbi is correct, I had the same issue with Netbeans 8.2 on Xorg. It 
doesn't matter whether you have only the headless package or the full 
openjdk package, Netbeans does not work with Openjdk, it only works with 
Oracle's Jdk.

Another possible problem is that you only have the headless Java package 
installed.  If you haven't installed a Java application, you might not 
have the full version.  What does "rpm -qa | grep openjdk" show you?

I worked around very much to this problem ..
I also reinstalled fedora 27...

I remember one time I was able to install netbeans 8.. (I am not so sure
this can be influenced but that time I installed it as root..).
When I rebooted the computer the installation doesn't worked any more..

My opinion actually is that NetBeans in not any more maintained from Oracle
and because this it is not not so much affordable as it was in the past..

I continue to use NetBeans  with Fedora 21..

That's the current problem.  You only have the headless package.  Run 
"dnf install java-1.8.0-openjdk".
