Mate terminal, that is -- not life threatening but intensely irritating and anti-productive. When I click on any little x, in the upper right either of the whole terminal or of one tab, the whole terminal closes. It should, of course, close only the tab it's on when I click the x on one tab.
It has done this every time I've tried to close a single tab, since I've been running F 29.

I'm on FC29, running Mate also. I am not seeing that behavior. Clicking tab "x"s just delete the one tab.
I've not rebooted into the most recent kernel. Running 4.19.13-300, not 4.19.15-300.

I doubt that the kernel is involved in this as it's too high-level an issue. Are you running the same DE, and if so, is it the most recent version. (If it's upgraded recently, you may need to log out/log in, but rebooting just for that would be a touch of overkill.)

I'm running Mate with a Mate-terminal; I update almost every day, and reboot within a day or two of any change in the kernel.

No problem here on a fully updated F29 Mate Only VM. Started Mate Terminal, opened 5 Tabs, closed one by one.

Have you tried checking the journal to see if there's some message about it crashing? Also, try running it from a different terminal program so you can see if there is anything printed out when it happens.

F29 MATE updated as of 17 Jan using LDM does not exhibit this problem for me. MATE Terminal shows version 1.20.2
