When you boot your system, don't you have a menu to select up to
3
kernels?
You are quite right, of course, I was being stupid.
I find that when I boot into 3.10.10-200.fc19.i686.PAE
there appears to be no problem.
(I was running 3.11.1-200.fc19.i686.PAE when the problem occurred.)
