Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link! I am a complete newbie with respect to rpms. Is there a tutorial on how to download and install rpms in Fedora?
Thanks

When you upgrade to F10. :)
I can't speak on the ooo maintainer's intentions on F-9, but I'd venture that based on history, such a large upgrade is unlikely to happen.
Right. Major version upgrades of apps generally don't take place during a Fedora release. One of the key reasons to upgrade Fedora itself when a new release is available.
Just remove OO2 using yum, go to the OO.org web site, download the tar file that contains the OO3 rpms, un-tar it and install the OO3 rpms.
Works just fine... :-)
Just note that the default user-specific settings and templates are not in the same local location, so you will likely have to transfer those.
OO3 will be available in F10 if you want to wait or install a current beta release. Same for rawhide. If you wanted to use those rpms separately however, I am guessing that there will be dependency issues, which might make using those rpms more complicated than using the OO.org versions.

A computer...
See: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f9/en_US/sn-ArchSpecific.html for more specific information. The requirements vary, depending on what sort of computer.
Incidentally, that page was the first page found when I did a Google search using the following three keywords: f9 hardware requirements
That's just got to be easier to do than to join a mailing list and post a question.
Oh, and please do not hijack message threads, start a new thread by creating a new message that is not a reply to another message. i.e. Do not press reply on your mail client. Your message is buried in another thread, where it won't get seen by some people, will get deleted by others simply for being in the wrong place, and disrupts the conversation of the original message thread. That's three reasons why you don't do it.
NB: Hitting reply, erasing the message contents, subject line and typing a new one is *not* creating a "new" message.
Create a new message by using the "create new message" feature of your mail client, and fill in the email address to send it to. Or, click on the list address in an existing message, which will create a new message unrelated to the one that you've picked on.

1. Download the 'english' 'RPM' and make a new folder in your home directory called OO-3 and drag the download file into that OO-3 folder.
2. Open a terminal window and do su and password. In terminal , do cd OO-3. Then do a copy and paste into the terminal window of line below. tar -xvf OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar.gz
It will make a new folder OO-3/OOO300_m9_native_packed-1_en-US.9358/RPMS/ .
Then cd OOO300_m9_native_packed-1_en-US.9358/RPMS/ (be sure to do all this in SU Terminal). Then do a ./setup and install will start, follow instructions, When you get to the part "Select Additional Componets" I selected "Optional Componets" this installs everything and do a Next and follow Instructions.
Be sure to do all this in a SU (Super User Terminal) I know these instructions maybe a little confusing, but read carefully.
After install is complete, you find the execute files in the /Menu/Office

I forgot to mention if you have any old Office apps installed, Remove them. Do you use Yumex, a package Updater-Installer-Remover , for newbie it is easy to see all the packages.
If you want insall it, as SU terminal type, yum install yumex.

Thanks very much for the instructions. I doubt that I would have got all this right on my own. I try to run all yum stuff in a console logged in as root, so su scope problems are not an issue for me.
Hi list
Is there any repository for OOO3 for Fedora? When OOO3 will be added to the officiel repository?
Thanks for any input

Please don't top-post on this list. See the Guidelines at the end of every message.
