I'm a brand new Linux user. I've just installed Fedora Core 5. I'm using GNOME, but would like to try KDE. Can you explain (or point me towards) how to do that? Specifically, I mean changing the configuration so that I'm running KDE instead of GNOME.
Assuming you have KDE installed, logout, change the session to KDE and log back in.
To clarify, look at the "Session" menu on the login screen. If you have both GNOME and KDE installed, you'll be able to switch between them from there.
And to make KDE the one that is always started when you log in...
in the file --> /etc/sysconfig/desktop
put --> DESKTOP="KDE"

And if you need to install it then go to Menu - Add/Remove Software - Desktop Environments and check the kde box. That will get you a pretty useful kde environment. After installation just exit your session and change session to kde. Cheers Antoine
