I have a Brother DCP-7055W all-in-one laser printer and

it. Now, it seems to have disappeared. Both simple-scan and
scanimage
report no scanners found.
I've reinstalled the RPM package downloaded from
brother.com. I've
rebooted Fedora (you never know). I've also checked that the
scanner
itself is working (from a Windows laptop).
What else can I try?

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. I only scan
perhaps once a year, but my trusty old Canoscan N650U is
always up to the job and scanning has been painless i Fedora
for me.
Well, recently, no matter what I did, reboot, reload the
module, etc, nothing worked, not even importing into Gimp,
running xsane, nothing.
Then, I tried skanlite and it worked like a charm! I think you
also need kf5-libksane and sane-backends-drivers-scanners,
but, if so, they should be pulled in as dependencies.
