hey friends,
I am looking for a free open source software (web based or application) through which I can monitor the Pix Firewall. What it should show Interface status or traffic , VPN Connectivity status, CPU Status, Memory Status etc. I am also running DHCP server on Pix Firewall (due to some reasons) If it can monitor that also means showing how many IPAddresses has been assigned, to whom, what is the lease time etc. then it will be very good.
I know about cacti but for VPN Connectivity status one has to use telnet which I don't want to use and I don't know about monitoring DHCP server through it. Is there any other tool through which I can monitor Pix Firewaall ?
I am using FC3 & FC4.
Thanks & Regards

I have a Pix here at the place I work but I don't do all the maintenance on it. I do however log into it with a web browser for small things. Does the web one do what you want? Or is there a better monitoring application that you use under windows?

hey,
I use telnet to login into the pix firewall. I don't use any web based or any other application to monitor it but now want to monitor it particularly the VPN Connection status. I am not going to use any Windows based software even though how good it is and even if it is free. I love linux and I am looking for some software on Linux only. There are 1 or 2 good software s and I am going explore them soon.
rancid and cacti.
Which web based software you use to do some the stuff on pix ?
Thanks & Regards

The web management is a java applet downloaded from the pix to any java-enabled browser. It's probably already installed so you just need a jre and plugin for firefox on your linux box.

For logs, all you have to do is enable remote reception on any linux syslog and point the pix to it with 'logging host inside ip_address' Be prepared for large logfiles...
