I have an issue that I might need a rescue cd, is there a way to create one from my current setup so that if I goof I can get back into the system from a boot cd and revert back to teh old config?

You can use the Fedora distributed rescue disc for that. You don't have to make one yourself. I suggest you make regular backups of your system's critical files. Then when you find yourself in a bind, boot off of the rescue disc and pull your backup files back in.

I tried this one, successfully, some months ago: http://sourceforge.net/projects/rescuecd/
Hope this helps.
So that would be one of the iso's that I probably have already downloaded? *bangs head* That will allow me to boot from the rescue cd and say make a change to my grub.conf file?
Hey I love your signature :)

Well, don't know if you've already downloaded it or not, but for FC6 it's FC-6-i386-rescuecd.iso available on any FC mirror site. Burn that to a disc and you've got yourself a rescue disc that will allow you to boot your system up from it, mount your drive and go to town. That same disc also allows you to run the installer in case all you want to do is wipe the system clean and re-install. That's what I use when installing new machines (as opposed to configuring grub on an already running system to install a new FC version.)

The first CD or the DVD can also be used.

Or you can use CD 1 and type rescue at the boot prompt.

Hmm, on a related note...
Rather than create a general-purpose rescue CDROM, how about a means to create an auto-restore CDROM set? Boot from the first CDROM, answer a few nag questions to make sure we really Really REALLY want to wipe the system, and then make it look like it did the day the rescue set was created?

You're looking for the equivalent of Norton Ghost.

Check out Mondo (if it hasn't already been mentioned).

g4u (Ghost 4 Unix) works well. http://www.feyrer.de/g4u/
I haven't checked to see if it'll restore to drives with different geometry yet.
