Subject: This is what I was talking about
Jerry, earlier this year I wrote you a letter about how the Air Force could make better use of air supremacy. (Another of your readers responded, accusing me of "victory through air power.) Here's an article you may not have seen showing us doing exactly the type of thing I was advocating: http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/08/02/us-led-raids-destroy-isis-brid... You drop the bridges and it makes it harder and slower for ISIS to get troops, supplies and equipment to the front where they're needed and that makes it easier for our "boots on the ground" to do their job. I do have to ask, though, what took them so long?

Yes. I know. It wasn't intended for the list, it was intended to be sent to my friend, Jerry Pournelle.
Who cares who you meant to send it to?

The point is that I wasn't intending it to go to the list, and that I wrote it the way I did because it might end up on http://www.jerrypournelle.com the way the email I referred to was. If I'd been sending it to J. Random Phriend, I wouldn't have given the name, but I thought that a few of you might know who I was talking about.
I do. Does that make me old?

The point is that the right response would have been "Oh, sorry" instead of some gratuitous name-dropping to try and make it seem OK. It's not OK to post political or military messages on a technical mailing list.

You seem to have considerable difficulties telling the difference between an explanation and an excuse. And, as far as the name-dropping goes, I only mentioned the name because I thought that some of the members might find it interesting.
Because every one of them are pulling the rope in the direction of its own way and benefit.
What!? Is this a part of another thread or what?

It's part of a thread that was posted here by mistake and rightly died about two weeks ago.
