Hi all TB users, I have 2 gmail accounts. One for mailing lists, online transactions, ...etc, and one for family members to send me email to.
On the account used for family, I send emails to someone, and then I check in the Sent folder. I do not see the message I just sent.
So thought perhaps I deleted the message from the Sent folder by accidental mistake.
So, I check the trash folder. Not there. I only empty the trash folder about once in a blue moon, just in case I deleted something by mistake. The message I just sent is not there either.
This is the listing of the directory /home/jd/.thunderbird/Name-Removed-by-me/Mail/pop.googlemail.com

What is interesting, this problem does not manifest in the jd1008 account's directory.
If you need more info on the account settings, please let me know.

Go to Edit->Account Settings. Select the account and look at Copies and Folders. If you haven't set TB to keep a copy of each outgoing message it doesn't. It Just Goes Away.

This is standard practice on gmail. Don't know why you see your post on the other account. Just one more reason not to use gmail.

I can't make out what you are saying is standard practice nor why you disagree with it.

All of the items under copies and folders (sent, archives, drafts and templates), are being saved in <myusername>@gmail.com
so are those in the account jd1008.
Disk space is hugely available, and the Sent folder is still way below 4GB.

Ditto....!! I have no idea where Doug is coming from. Prior Experience with TB?? I already indicated this is happening on only one of 2 accounts.

It gets very hard to interpret support requests when you redact the pertinent information.
If all of the items are being saved under "jd1008 @ gmail" then you'd look for mail that you've sent from either account in the same Sent folder.
If that's not what you want, then select your Name-Removed-by-me account, make sure that the option to "Place a copy" of your sent mail is checked, and then select whatever folder you want to store mail for that account.

You misunderstood. I meant that account jd1008, all folder are under jd11008@gmail.com Other account's folders are under <other>@gmail.com
Hope this clarifies it for you.

OK, then set the folder where you want messages stored. If it's not working as expected, try setting a custom location.
