Dear All,
Recently, when I right-click on my mouse, sometimes it works, but other times not. I am using XFCE on Fedora 32. Could you please help me?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Hi!
I actually have had the same issue using GNOME for quite some times, even changed my mouse thinking it was the culprit. So yes maybe it's a generic issue?
Thank you.

I recently switched to a wireless mouse and sometimes see this. I never saw it with my old wired usb mouse. Is everyone else also seeing this with a wireless mouse? Sometimes when I reboot I get errors about unable to properly talk to the usb device which is the wireless mouse dongle and I have to unplug and plug it back in, at which point it works flawlessly.
I've been meaning to move the mouse to a windows box and use it for a while to see if the same thing happens there, but haven't worked up the energy to try that yet.

Thanks, Tom and Frederic. My mouse is a wired (not wireless) one.

FWIW, I've been using a ten year old Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000. All of that time on Linux, most of the time on Fedora & RH. No problems at all

I had problems with USB mouse and keyboard on a new computer with USB3 ports (one of which is used for an external drive) next to the USB 2 ports where the mouse and keyboard were connected. I've seen a number of reports that USB3 radio-frequency interference (RFI) can affect legacy USB devices as well as bluetooth and wifi. After moving them to an old USB hub the problems stopped.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,
I've heard that Logitech mice will have that symptom when the switches wear. I've seen it myself. Since I like the feel of Logitech mice, I keep on buying them, keeping a spare or two that I buy whenever I find them on sale.

Try running "xev" or "evtest" to see if the events are actually happening. "xev" shows the X events, "evtest" will show you the kernel level events.
Earlier in this thread someone said they used a usb 2 hub to get their wireless dongles away from the usb 3 ports. I dug up an old hub I had and gave it a try.
I can't for sure say it worked, because I don't have a long enough trial period yet, but I haven't noticed any mouse clicks go missing since I got the dongles moved to the hub.

Thank you, Samuel and the other respondents.
I have tried "evtest", but it only detects left-button events (and none from middle- and right-buttons).
In my case,
$ xinput get-button-map 8 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 $
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

If evtest isn't showing you any other events then most likely your mouse is broken. Any events coming in on the USB port should be showing up there. The only other alternative is a pretty serious kernel bug. Can you try the mouse on another computer? Do you have another USB mouse to try on this one?

Thanks, Samuel. You are right: my mouse is probably broken, as I have just bought a new one, which works perfectly.
