I have a hard drive removed from an Apple Mac computer that I need to reformat but fdisk and gparted show it locked and neither are able to change anything. The drive is connected through a universal adapter via USB.
Can anyone tell me how to deal with this?

Ok, I'm learning but it's a slow process.
It's shown as locked in gparted until "unmounted."
Finally got it set up as a vfat drive, my granddaughter wants to use it to backup some photo images from her Windows portable. I keep notes so I should not have this problem again IF I can find my note.
Thanks,
Bob
