I just read the info for cairo about it being a vector graphics library.
I guess your card is using Mesa emulation instead of DRI. (or something
like that)
No, uses DRI (according to /var/log/Xorg.0.log) and GLX... it can also run
stuff like Quake 3 at a respectable speed.
If you reduced your resolution and color depth, does performance
increase?
Not really. I used to use 1152x900 with 16 bit colour. I reduced it to
1024x768 with no noticeable difference.
I'll test speed on the Intel 815 later to see if it is noticeably
slower
than /fc4.
