Hi.. I was hoping that someone could point me towards the right direction...
I'm planning on building roughly 20 computers to run FC6 (or Fedora 7 when it comes out) I understand there are certain hardware compatibility issues, ie. graphic cards, sound cards, etc. Is there some kind of a list with 'Fedora-safe' hardware I could use when shopping for parts?
I'm currently running FC6 on an iMactel and have had some trouble with various things like 3d acceleration, wireless, isight, etc. but I understand it wouldn't be quite this difficult if I wasn't using the iMac. I just want to be extra careful before spending what little money I have. ^_^ And I would really love to have 3d acceleration working on all machines!
Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For 3D acceleration with nvidia you will need the proprietary driver.

That is a bit misleading. If you want the latest and greatest consumer video cards, than that would be a defendable position.
However, you can get 3d accelleration using open source drivers on intel chipsets and ATI cards that are a generation old (r200, r300 and r400 with the r300/r400 driver being relatively new).
Thanks. I had a look at Smolt. It's interesting!
But I would really be interested in knowing what graphic cards all of you guys are using. I would like to know which ones are definitely working without any problems with 3d acceleration. Do all of them require editing the xorg.conf file? or do some work straight out of the box?
And if you are using a webcam, which brand is it? I would think that there are only a few that work.
Also, I'm planning on using touch screens with all the computers. I guess I'm what you'd call a newbie to this... I was reading something about Elotouch Technology. Do all touch screens work assuming you have the correct drivers? I noticed there were specific ones for WIN/Mac/Linux...
Once again, any comments would be greatly appreciated~
Thanks again!

I'm also interested in touch-screens, so please post (or private email) other things you find.
Thanks,

Most Intel cards work out of the box considering Intel opensourced their driver
Intel graphics on all laptops works great with any linux distro!
