Today's Meeting -- May 26th @ 22:00
by Max Spevack
We'll be having our meeting today at 22:00.
We're going to run the meeting by going down everything on the current
tasks list:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites/Tasks
I have a few questions, mostly my own ignorance from having missed the
last meeting or two. I'll ask them here, to save time on IRC later on.
1) The tasks list mentions that the "comprehensive domain list" is now
available, for all of the domains that are part of Fedora Project's
control. Can someone post a link to where that list is?
2) "Look for a plugin to automate page sponsorship management in MW".
Can someone explain to me what the sponsorship in MediaWiki is?
Talk to you all tonight,
Max

Documenting source locations
by Eric Kerby
Hi all,
As someone who wants to get more involved with actually modifying the
code of various Fedora websites, I feel that we need to do a better
job of documenting where the source can be found for each of our
domains. So, in an effort to make this happen, I have modified the
DomainsList page on the wiki. <http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites/DomainsList
>
Since the "Google Code" column has gone unused since I created the
DomainsList page last summer, I replaced it with a "Source Location"
column. As you can see, I have tried to put the location of a web-
viewable source repository next to several domains. I need your help
to fill out this list and make it accurate.
I hope this helps potential contributors find our source code more
easily. For instance, I'm not exactly sure where the source to the
static fp.o pages is now held. It seems like it used to be at http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/viewcvs/web/?root=fedora
, but that no longer seems to be the case.
Also, pertaining to the call to fix the new wiki, I haven't been able
to find where the mediawiki and theme code are being maintained. I
found a small bug in the page that appears on the Special:Preferences
page after clicking Save. The problem is with the green successbox
being displayed to the left of all the preference tabs. I would try
to fix this or submit a patch myself, but I can't find the source :-(
Regards,
Eric Kerby

Introduction: Basil Mohamed Gohar
by Basil Mohamed Gohar
Hello Fedora Web team!
My name is Basil Mohamed Gohar, and I am interested in helping out the
Fedora Project by contributing some of skills relating to web
development & server administration.
As for my relevant background, I have been developing PHP & MySQL web
applications since 2000 (so for more than 7 years). I've developed
several web sites from scratch, as well as worked on modifications
(usually for a private company) of several free software apps, such as
Moodle & WordPress. I also lease & administer two GNU/Linux servers
hosted in a data center in Dallas with ThePlanet, on which I host myriad
web site, mostly mine, but also those of a few friends and projects with
which I am associated. I have maintained these servers for nearly four
years. One of them, in fact, is a mirror for the Fedora Unity Re-Spin
project. Incidentally, I am experienced with the Apache HTTPd web
server, including working extensively with mod_rewrite.
As an avid user of Fedora, I hope that I can contribute these skills for
the benefit of the Fedora Project. While I realize that I'll probably
be joining a group far more skilled than myself, I also feel that this
would be a great opportunity for me to grow my skills.
You can see a bit more of my tastes & interests by checking-out my blog:
http://www.basilgohar.com/blog/
So, with all of this, I hope someone from the Website team would be
willing to sponsor me to join the project! I am really looking forward
to this opportunity. Please do let me know if there are any other steps
I need to take before requesting a sponsor.

http://fedoraproject.org/en/verify
by Andre Robatino
The above page basically claims that if you download a Fedora ISO from
torrent.fedoraproject.org by BitTorrent, that it can automatically be
trusted as a result. This ignores the possibility that the .torrent
file itself could have been replaced, which would actually be easier
than replacing an entire ISO on a direct download server, since the
latter is much larger. The official torrents from
torrent.fedoraproject.org include SHA1SUM files, and the advice to check
those first should apply to torrent downloads as well as direct downloads.
Also, there is no mention of the warning when running "gpg --verify
SHA1SUM":
gpg: Signature made Wed 07 May 2008 10:03:44 PM EDT using DSA key ID
4F2A6FD2
gpg: Good signature from "Fedora Project <fedora(a)redhat.com>"
gpg: WARNING: This key is not certified with a trusted signature!
gpg: There is no indication that the signature belongs to the
owner.
Primary key fingerprint: CAB4 4B99 6F27 744E 8612 7CDF B442 69D0 4F2A 6FD2
I read on an old fedoralegacy.org page that the reason the key is not
certified with a trusted signature is due to an old RPM bug. Is this
correct? It would be nice if the page mentioned something about this as
well.

wikinew ready
by Mike McGrath
Alrighty websites team. The new wiki is up and ready:
https://fedoraproject.org//wikinew/
Go through and fix stuff that's broken. We'll be doing another import of
the changed pages (those that changed between now and Tuesday on the
current /wiki/) Beyond that though fix whats there, at this point there's
no point in reporting it... just fix it :)
The site itself will be up and down over the next couple of days as we get
new extensions ready, troubleshoot, etc. But the wiki will change over on
Tuesday of this week.
