#1983: file is corrupted: maniadrive-music-1.0-2.fc8.noarch.rpm

= phenomenon =
The maniadrive-music-1.0-2.fc8.noarch.rpm file, which exists as several
hardlinked copies in the fedora/linux/releases/8/Everything hierarchy, is
corrupted. The identical file is carried in Fedora 9 and that copy is
fine. Perhaps the corruption happened when Fedora 8 was moved from the
master mirror to the archives mirror.
= reason =
Comparing the copy in 8 to the one in 9, we see that the files are
supposed to be identical, but that the copy in 8 is corrupted:
>rpm -Kv fedora/linux/releases/{8,9}/Everything/i386/os/Packages
/maniadrive-music-1.0-2.fc8.noarch.rpm
fedora/linux/releases/8/Everything/i386/os/Packages/maniadrive-

Trying to install the corrupted RPM fails:
# rpm -ivh --nodeps fedora/linux/releases/8/Everything/i386/os/Packages
/maniadrive-music-1.0-2.fc8.noarch.rpm

= recommendation =
Restore maniadrive-music-1.0-2.fc8.noarch.rpm from a known-good backup
copy, or perhaps from the Fedora 9 Everything repo. The file appears
hardlinked in the Fedora 8 Everything repo on archives.fedoraproject.org
in the following paths:

I normally follow updates to official releases on the infofeed RSS, since it
tells me not only what was changed but for new apps, what the app does.
Hopefully now there will be one for FC13 as well.

Browser compatibility testing (in this case, for Spins pages)
by Mel Chua
How do we do browser compatibility testing for Fedora webpages? I
couldn't find notes for this on the wiki, but I may just be missing
something.
The question that prompted this (from Sean Daly of the Sugar Labs
project, copied):
> [http://spins.fedoraproject.org/soas/] is not
> showing any text on my old Mac
> running a very old version of Safari (v1.3.2). Displays OK in Firefox
> though. I don't suppose there is a plain-html version available, or a

[PATCH] CSS fixes for footer and sidebar size changes.
by Ricky Zhou
Some of the CSS techniques used here are pretty confusing and crazy :-/
These are some of the rules that needed updating when the sidebar and
footer were resized.
