This was also reported in ticket:1438, but there it was about a wiki page not being displayed properly. Instead of fixing the root of the problem, the page was adjusted to display the content. I guess this is not possible for the diff, therefore I open a new bug report. = recommendation = Maybe the CSS for diffs could be changed to show a horizontal scrollbar somehow. Embedded pictures and headers aren't formatted properly so text can flow around it, even in extreme situations. The sidebar takes up too much space at high DPIs leaving only half the page for the body. First of all, the sidebar is strictly set to a hard size in relation to the rest of the page. Second of all, horizontal scrolling is (and rightly so) disabled at all costs. Third of all, something is not set properly when formatting embedded inline pictures, so that the sidebar can wrap around it, or so that it's left justified instead of right justified so it runs off the page rather than running into the sidebar. = recommendation = Wikipedia has a pretty decent mobile interface that works very nicely on the Android devices, and presumably on others as well. It avoids using a sidebar and TOC by replacing it with expandable fields. I think that at least having that stylesheet available would be a start. The tricky part is detecting the actual dimensions *and* DPI of a screen and switching to the appropriate stylesheet. In this particular example, the screenshots were taken on an XO using mostly stock settings and Firefox. This makes it really hard to edit the wiki, obviously. If I add a '?edit' to the end of the wiki URL, sometimes it forces it into coming back to its senses, but not always. Once after submitting an edit, I got a page saying my user was not in a group with permissions to edit the page. I went to fedoraproject.org to find the addresses and archives of fedora mailing lists. I clicked the Community tab, it being the obvious choice. However the resulting page, http://fedoraproject.org/en/join-fedora mentions IRC, blog and forums but nothing about mailing lists. My suggestion is that you rectify this. HTH. P.S. Just before sending this I noticed down the bottom of the page, in tiny type, where no one would look for or expect it, a "Mailing List Help" link. I suggest adding a Mailing Lists section near the IRC, blogs, and forums sections, with equal billing, as that is the obvious place people will look for the information.

Dear Fedoraproject.org webmaster, I am developing a website for a nonprofit organization -- U.S. 501(c)(3) -- in Drupal 7, and I would like to adapt the subtheme that you have applied to Fedoraproject.org using the theme "NineSixty Grid System." My ideal theme is similar to yours in layout, but with completely different colors and images. Common Stylesheet for apps that infrastructure writes

Hey all, mizmo and I talked about this a few years ago but neither of us had time to really pursue it back then. The idea is that infrastructure writes quite a few web applications. Those applications have many common elements. If we defined classes and usage for those elements we'd get sevaral benefits: * Easier to theme and retheme our applications. * Less chance of breaking things by changing global stylesheets because we know what each element is supposed to do * Application programmers have a more concrete idea of what elements they are expected to provide and what those elements should contain. I'm presently working on a new, small web application for infrastructure using a new template language so it is a good opportunity to look at this again. I've written out something here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Toshio/Infra_Apps_Common_Stylesheet that I've extracted from looking at fas, bodhi, pkgdb, elections, wiki and fedoracommunity from a thousand foot view and then a closer look at how fas's existing stylesheet implements things. My goal here was to identify elements of the page, assign the major elements an id based on what they do, then give the subelements that they contain a class. I also tried to identify how the elements are currently being rendered. Applications we write in infrastructure would create elements in the areas identified so that css could be applied to all of those equally. They'd import the stylesheet that gave a default fedora look and feel to the app and possibly override some settings using an app-specific stylesheet. On IRC, sijis pointed out that although it'd be nice to have a stylesheet that made the apps look the same as fedoraproject.org, it might be hard to keep updates to the stylesheet from breaking either the apps or fedoraproject.org. So for imlementation, it might be better to put this into a separate css file. Applications we write in infrastructure would use that file whereas the website and wiki would continue to use a different css. There'd likely be duplication between them but at least we wouldn't have a separate stylesheet implementing fedora-look and feel for each app. What do people think? Is this something we can turn into an actual document for Fedora generated web applications to follow? What additional elements would be helpful? Are there things that are not sufficiently generic? -Toshio

Your site is hitting us hard with a DoS like attack

I'm not sure who to reach out to... our internal phone system was shut down this afternoon with hundreds of SIP requests per minute from 199.119.225.191. opening this IP address in a browser takes me to the Fedora Test page.
