Errors on FedoraProject Website
by Ryne Hager
Hi, I'm not really a member of the Fedora community, but as I was
touring the site while my download finished I noticed a few errors. I
found this error at http://fedoraproject.org/en/features/#creativity
and decided to point it out.
"Gimp Image Editor
The Gimp is fully-featured and bitmap image editor. Simply use it for
simple image cropping, resizing, and red-eye correction, or explore
its powerful advanced photo manipulation, digital painting, animation,
and special effects capabilities.
Learn more about Gimp and find tutorials and more at the Gimp homepage."
There's an article, "a," missing in the first sentence describing
gimp, making the sentence grammatically incorrect. The "and" also
doesn't make much sense there either, as fully-featured isn't really
an exclusive characteristic to bitmap, although it could stay if you
don't agree, don't care, or see both "fully-featured" and "bitmap" to
be modifying "image editor" in a way that is more effective when done
separate. Either way, the sentence "The Gimp is fully-featured and
bitmap image editor." doesn't read as well as the more correct "The
Gimp is *a* fully-featured bitmap image editor."
Also, as a side-note, repeating derivatives of "simple" in the second
sentence isn't really effective, and somewhat redundant. If it is
simple then it's use is implied to be done simply. It would be a bit
like saying "I was angry as I walked angrily away." It's a bit
redundant, even if it is possible to defend angrily walking as being
different and distinct from being angry. Cutting either "Simply" or
"simple" from the sentence increases it's effectiveness, I think.
In any event, just thought I'd point it out. Hopefully this ends up
going to the correct channel. It doesn't need correcting, it just
might stay wrong if it isn't.
Like the color theme and layout, and yum and rpm have improved since
the last time I played with Fedora. Keep up the good work.

Dear Keith,
Unfortunately, all links where your name is associated to Fedora refers
to the only on message that you've sent to us, on January 19th 2009.
There is many references to this thread because our mailing lists are
public, and their are some crawler referencing them, be don't have
access to them, therefore we are not able to delete messages.
The actual original message is there[1] and you got a response[2]
explaining you that your request was not Fedora Project dependant.
An other example is this thread[3], already copied in the gmane
website[4]. It will also appear in a few days on the
http://www.mail-archive.com website.
Again, we don't have any relation to those websites, hopefully they are
hiding email address in order to avoid spam.

overview of fedora
by Eduardas Braiko
Hi, just red the overview of fedora on fedora web page and some thoughts come by, so I wanted to share. Hope it will have positive effect :)
Fedora is a Linux-based operating system (thats ok, you my add free in this section cause it's first impression and you giving it for nothing. Next part should go for "what's in side"),
a suite of software that makes your computer run (this is NOT a good point, because if I read it that means my machine IS running... In other words, this part of short overview is NOT connecting with the deeper levels of customer (or better to say with user) reasoning emotions. It should contain your spirit of pioneering... and show that you express this by using linux only in the way the artist uses white paper to paint his picture and that there is something useful inside for YOU). The overview should have the spirit by which the user can recognize (in his unconscious) the spirit which wakes you up every morning and makes you do what you do (this makes user easier to adjust him self and love your work). In this part show what you have to share with the other human being).
You can use the Fedora operating system to replace or to run alongside of other operating systems such as Microsoft Windows™ or Mac OS X™ (this is not the hook! it says to the unconscious of the user: we don't know that you are looking for some new experience and something better, might be, to use on your PC... (sorry...? why am I here?!) and we have not much to offer except the free replacements...). So again you waste this part).
The Fedora operating system is 100% free of cost for you to enjoy and share (And It's Free! - or similar phrase will do better effect then long explanation (Remember Facebook story: not "The Facebook" but just "Facebook" made the huge difference). I mean users are always looking for something new and different and what ever you explain will just blunt the senses of curiosity, pioneering, and creative imagination. (the main part is giving the tools, and the user WlLL find where and how to use it). So, as more you explain - more you explain your self actually, to cover your hidden goals and that says your goal is not what's here, written for me to read).
Best regards

New transifex feature: downloading only proofread translations
by Kévin Raymond
Hi there,
The indifex team has worked hard and pushed many new features[1]. What
concern us is (would be up in few hours, I were just told that by
irc), the new ability to download only proofread translations.
There is a new role, "proofreader" who is able to proofread translations.
Using the transifex client, we should be able to download only
proofread translations soon.
As a translator team coordinator, I find that really great. Some teams
never proofread their work (language dependant, some are easier), but
other have to.
In the fist case, translators will have to verify all their
translations (I'll let them know), which is just a mouse click or a
keyboard shortcut while translating online.
The question is, do we want to download only proofread translations?
