F17 release: Last minute changes (NEEDED)!
by Kévin Raymond
Hi there,
According to our last discussions and tickets, I've just:
- updated the Cloud content, see/check[0]. I am not sure to use the
960grid system well, but I've see worst :)
I wait for few minutes and will send the POT to transifex.net
- updated the install requirements according to last mizmo comments. I
think "RECOMMENDED
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS" is quite long… Shouldn't we reduce it?
(Recommended requirements?)
oh, and I changed the docs link there…
Which is important actually is to update the ISO sizes: need to update
build/globalvar.py
and check the links…

Thanks mizmo for the slideshow!
(if we forget something, I am sure we are going to be notified soon ^^)

As sent to our mailing list,
now that we've defined the default download to x86_64, we probably need to
update systems requirements.
We also have to check the minimal memory needed for Anaconda, as it lower
now…

I would add that Legal should not approve trademark license agreement
to the unknown if the local community already exist.
Example if my neighbor ask to register the greatitalianfedora.it, the
request should be rejected if the owner is not involved in the local
community.
But they need to understand how the local community works.
It's not easy, neither fast.
At least guidelines would help define a process and prevent end users
to ask for his own website reference…

Extra stuff creeping up on the website - can we clean it up?
by Máirín Duffy
Hi,
I noticed some cruft has surfaced on fedoraproject.org's front page.
The Installation requirements section concerns me most. I've quoted the
current text below and my suggestions for cleaning it up. Are these
suggestions okay?
---
"400MHz Pentium Pro or better processor (comparable AMD, Cyrix, and VIA
processors also acceptable)"
How about "400Mhz Intel-compatible system or better"
---
"At least 768MB memory (RAM), 1GB recommended for best performance"
Be bold. Pick one. Forcing a dichotomy on the user is putting pressure
on them that they don't need in the wake of an OS switch.
How about "1 GB memory (RAM)"

The robotics spin's description at
http://spins.fedoraproject.org/robotics/ mentions the Gazebo package as an
example of software in the robotics spin. Gazebo is stalled in review,
and not yet in Fedora, so we need to remove it from the description until
the package is approved.
Please change this sentence:
These range from hardware accessory libraries for the Hokuyo laser
scanners or Katana robotic arm to software systems like Fawkes or
Player/Stage and simulation environments such as Gazebo and RoboCup?
Soccer Simulation Server 2D/3D
to:

Thanks!!

Thank you Kévin and sorry if i have not continued the discussion on this
mailing list (i didn't know that my first mail was forwarded in websites
ML).
Summarizing:
my request regards to add fedora-it.org (together the actual italian Fedora
community) like a new Italian Fedora community.
Fedora-it.org are not still signed the trademark agreement but we will take
care soon.
As i have written to Kévin Raymond, we respect the fedoraonline.it work and
don't contrast it; however we (as a Fedora website in
ILDN<http://ildn.net/il-network-ildn>)
wish offer a further source of support, of information and a distinct
viewpoint about Fedora.
I would like know what you think about and if possible do it.
Regards

Re: 64-bit and system requirements
by Tom Callaway
As far as I can tell, the earliest 64bit x86 family CPU we support is
the AMD Opteron, but I also confirmed with the kernel folks that we
support _all_ x86 64bit CPUs (except for the Itanium).

64-bit and system requirements
by Valentin Laskov
Hi all,
On the first page of the future fpo website, the link for downloading Fedora
17 is for 64-bit version. Below this are system requirements: Pentium Pro. I
think this must be revised.
Best Regards
