We are starting pretty early to prepare websites for F23 finalk release
this time. There are some tasks we have to do and we have also some new
scripts for automatic AMI IDs via fedimg we need to test.
f23 branch has already been created and I also merged Ralph's development
branch into it, so we can work on it and run it in staging in a few days.
This new f23 requires a new package (wiki already updated), so if you want
to run it locally you need to install:
dnf install python-dogpile-cache
Also, for now we will keep globalvars as for F22, because we don't have
any AMIs actually for 23. As I said the branch is still in a development
status and needs some fixes to work better and faster, but only if we work
on it directly we will be able to optimize it.
I filed a couple of other tickets which will be blocking for this one, so
have a look at them if you want. Finally we need to do also the usual
stuff, for all websites (getfedora, spins, labs and arm):
* update globalvar state and ID (not immediately)
* redirect prerelease pages to $Product/download/index.html (already in
ansible)
* verify no prerelease banners are visible
* add CHECKSUMS, change them also in our checksum script and verify they
are working from the DL splash
* remove Beta checksums
* check ALL links (DL, DOCS, footer)
* add image sizes for getfedora.org, labs.fp.o, arm.fp.o and spins.fp.o to
our globalvar.py
* verify if all spins and labs are build for GOLD RC
* add AMI IDs, this should be done automatically but verify all IDs
manually as it is the first time we will use it
* at some point freeze translations and build getfedora in staging
Before merging into master, as this will be a dirty merge, we should
update all POT files and do a complete pull of all PO files from zanata.

@FLOCK the design team came up with an improved version of our main
getfedora.org page. Actually we still have the messages we wanted to
display for fedora.next, but now we should improve that page and make
things nicer, because users are used to see 3 Fedora editions and we can
focus on something else.
We have a mockup for it, in [https://github.com/fedoradesign/nextweb-
assets/blob/master/Mockups/Brochure%20Site/getfedoradotorg_final.svg SVG]
and [https://github.com/fedoradesign/nextweb-
assets/blob/master/Mockups/Brochure%20Site/getfedoradotorg_final.png PNG]
format. The page has a slightly different structure, so we have to rewrite
also the mobile stuff, but all in all it should not be too much work.
Let's try to get this in for F23 final release. Any ideas or help with
this task?

For F23 final release we need a new page for Cinnamon. This means we need
to get features, icons, text and support channels for this spin.
The directory needs to be the same as the other spins, and we have to add
it on the main spins.fp.o website too. Cinnamon will also get its own
download page.
I'm copying in here the spins owner to make this all as smooth as
possible.

AMI IDs are getting more and more and we'll probably have soon other
public cloud services and not only Amazon. To make this part easier to
maintain we should think about a script. I have an idea, it could work
like this:
* use fedimg to get the IDs of the AMIs for all regions
* put the IDs into a specific file (a dedicated ami_id.py variable file?)
* all html files can get the IDs from that file simply by calling the
variables
* we should add the execution of the script to our makefile. This way we
can update all IDs on every page manually just by doing ''make amis''. At
the next build the IDs would be in the html pages
The source from where the script gets the IDs can be datanommer but also
other sources. Not sure which one is easier and faster.
Ideas? Comments? Other proposals?

With F19, the "launch" page doesn't show up until you choose a region. We
could default to us-east-1, because that's the biggest and most-full
featured region, but that may come off as a little us-centric. So, what
about guessing the closest region based on geoip, for the F20 version of
the page?

d4zzY - Intro
by Darren Young
Hi - just a short intro as I am interested in joining the fedora web team.
Been building websites off and on for a good few years both as a hobby and freelance so I am familiar with coding, git etc.
I would probably class my skill level as intermediate but always aiming to learn and improve!
Not entirely sure what else to put in here so shall be it for now.

q: integrate communityblog.fpo into start.fpo along with magazine?
by Matthew Miller
Right now, start.fpo only carries headlines from the Magazine, which is
strongly geared at user-focused articles. We're launching a new blog,
<http://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/>, with articles geared more at
contributors and the more inward-facing community. This won't replace
the Planet, which will continue to be an aggregator of blog posts
_from_ community members about Fedora. Instead, it'll be a place for us
to put articles _for_ the community - stuff about elections, test days,
FADs, and so on.
Do you think it would be good to include these articles on start.fpo as
well? If so, should they be mixed with the Magazine headlines, or
separated out in some way, and if so, how?
