Was thinking, it might be a good idea to have a link to the release
announcement for the current release on the Fedora Magazine somewhere on
getfedora.org
Maybe on the page for each edition -- not sure about where.
We also do a regular "What's new in fedora X <edition>" article too (for
f23, we only have the workstation one, but we want to do all three for
f24), so this might be good to have instead of the release announcement,
Not 100% sure.
this is just to direct users to the best source of information about the
changes in the current release of Fedora, as getfedora.org's information
is more just about all fedora features, not just the new ones.

Each and every website connected to fdora project uses different
terminology furthermore different authentication system. I.e. I wanted to
join to the design team at the link
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_Design_Team
As suggested I had to subscribed to the mailing list, however when i
registered it turned out that the link at the above page points to some
old version of the mailman system where I had to create a subscription. So
it didn't work. Then I found out the sudden blue a different link where I
could register with mozilla persona login that is third one given the fact
that I had to create a fedora account as well as suggested on the join
page.
I also checked and in the websites group page at the join to mailing list
section the link is wrong as well. here
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites/Join
So my original plan was to join to the design team, however now i have to
keep in mind 4 different login credentials, and at each page there is a
different naming structure. E.g. to submit this bug report i was asked for
an open id which turned out to be equivalent with my fedora account, but
with FAS account cannot access the same subscription I did with persona
at the mailing list.
My brief suggestion was to try to consolidate all these websites and
services and use a single type of authentication service, that is call the
same at each and every websites.
Eg. now i have different credentials for fedora account, to the wiki site,
to the mailing list where my suggestion was to use only the
fedora account that was valid to everywhere.
thanks,
Karoly

#375: Write websites docs for pagure

As for ticket #374 we could move all our docs to pagure, as there is a
nice feature built in pagure. For now I moved there just the release SOP,
but we could, as we do not have many wiki pages, move it all to pagure.
To make this and get a nice layout, we should use sphinx, which is
automatically rendered by pagure, it permits to make an index and can
include all kind of documentation we are using actually.
The real pro here is to have all websites resources in one place :)
If anyone wants to work on this, please ping me to coordinate the work and
to get write access.

Yes, it's that period of the year again, F24 has been branched and a new
release cycle has started. We have some new stuff to do and are on a new
repository, so let's start a bit earlier:
'''IMPORTANT NOTE:''' The web repository is now on pagure and we won't
have anything of the F24 release cycle on our old fedorahosted.org repo.
Please reclone the new repo and push your work there: https://pagure.io
/fedora-websites
On the new repository the branch f24-alpha has already been created and
the globalvars updated to the Alpha release. From now on you can easily
follow our release updating process (probably it still needs some fixes)
on the pagure documentation:
https://docs.pagure.org/fedora-websites/websites_release.html#update-
website-for-alpha-release
Also:
* Create a page for the new Astronomy Spin - ticket #371
* Fedora server: no 32 bit images anymore on the websites - ticket #369
* If possible, let's show the Atomic ISO installer more prominent - ticket
#366
* We need to check if the Atomic and AMI script work for prerelease
images, and if not fix them.
* We never built anything from the pagure repo. Setup the Infra part ASAP
for staging to see what happens.
Prerelease images are unstable, so we can probably look for a place where
to mention also rawhide, which also is rather unstable. We have ticket
#373 requesting it.
Let's add anything else to this ticket, thank you.

username question
by Antal Kopácsi
Dear Fedora Website Team,
My name is Antal Kopácsi, I'm from Hungary. I would like to ask for some
help with Fedora account registration. I created a Fedora account some
years ago with the username "akopacsi" but I forgot both the password
and the email address I used... :-P
Do you think it would be possible to get back that username? In fact, I
haven't used that account for ages. I wonder if I used it at all. I am
quite sure you could check its practically empty activity log. I would
be grateful if you could make it possible to reuse that username again.
Thank you,
-Antal Kopácsi-

Replace Terrible Photos on GetFedora.org Workstation Website
by Nadim Kobeissi
Hi everyone,
I have been a Fedora user for almost a decade now. I am advised that this is the correct forum where I can propose contributions and changes to the GetFedora website.
The GetFedora.org pages for Server and Cloud are okay. However, the one for Fedora Workstation [1] has been bothering me for a long time now. There are some aspects of it that I've found disturbingly bad and in serious need of change. Luckily, they're easily replaceable components of the webpage.
Right now, the Workstation page has a very good introduction at the top ("This is the Linux workstation you've been waiting for") followed by a good introduction ("Fedora Workstation is a reliable [...] corporate environments.")
However, what comes after that is the problem: the Workstation has a bunch of sentences that either make very specific technical references or in general contribute little value to selling the project. These could be fixed by focusing on a more general introduction to the desktop environment, daily-use features, and cutting-edge differences that separate Fedora from other desktop operating systems.
The most critical problem I have with the website are the photos: they're incredibly bad. The photos are of, literally, decade-old ThinkPads that are completely covered in dirt and dust, running Fedora. It's like a caricature of a Linux distro website. I find that to be very off-putting and unprofessional. These photos should be replaced quickly and I can't believe they've been on the website every time I've gone to download a Fedora image over the past two years! They can at least be replaced with photos of clean ThinkPads, and better yet, laptops where what's actually on the screen is an interesting Fedora use-case that is clearly visible in the photo.
If anyone can point me to the correct repository for the website, I will make pull requests with suggestions to make the website more reasonable, and I will also contribute content and try to make the page more useful and accessible to people interested in Fedora. Right now, the website seems to be made by Fedora users and seems to target people who *already* use Fedora, which is very near-sighted and ultimately a bad strategy.
Regards,
Nadim
