unsubscribe options
by Felix Miata
I am a victim of Hurricane Hermine, thus due to the massive alteration in
available time to contribute for the foreseeable future, need to put most of
many mailing lists, Fedora and other, on hiatus for an unpredictable duration.
Dev mailing list post headers list two unsubscribe options:
1-https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/lists/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org
2-mailto:devel-leave@lists.fedoraproject.org (with no instructions whether or
what if anything to put in the email)
I tried the first first, expecting to find some expedited method to turn off
email to multiple lists. The first URL makes no mention of unsubscribing. I
tried to login to see if unsubscribe instructions were to be found, but found
only three options:
1-login by email, which wants to go through persona.org, with which I have no
association, or
2: Yahoo, with which I have no association, or
3: Fedoraproject.org, requiring login first. Not having remembered ever doing
that before, and neither remembered by primary web browser's passwords saved,
it took some time to hunt down login info.
Turning off email delivery status seemed to succeed, so I repeated for list
test. Then I expended some effort to find which other Fedora lists I'm
subscribed to, and found that there were 4 others, for a total of 6. All 6
were listed as delivery mode regular.
The monthly reminder email shows only 5 subscriptions total. Clicking on any
of its 5 options links produces 404 pages.
Eventually I did find
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/accounts/mailmansettings/
It seems there should be some easier way to find it, such as in the monthly
reminder email.
