Maybe you could try calling xl/xm directly with an HVM config file to
try to narrow down the issue.

Ive tested a 25Mb pre-made FreeBSD HVM image/kernel it does boot fine with xm create -c freebsd.cfg
but i need a 50Gb instance so i need to install it from iso.
