More space on the Xfce spin
by Christoph Wickert
Yesterday XZ compression hit rawhide and the nightly spins dropped from
~694 MB (i686) / 695 MB (x86_64) to 567 / 568 MB.
Now the question is: What are we going to do with this space? What would
you like to see in the F15 Xfce spin?
Some suggestions:
* libreoffice, at least writer, calc and impress
* gnumeric again (if we don't do libreoffice)
* more remmina-plugins: ATM we only have ssh, rdp and vnc, but
xdmcp, telepathy and nx are available, too
* more development stuff, e.g. meld and more geany-plugins
* games, e.g. gnome-games?
More ideas?
Regards,
Christoph

XCFE 4.8.1
by David
XFCE 4.8.1 packages are being released. Will there be 4.8.1 packages
available for Fedora 15/Rawhide? Or are there any new XFCE packages planned?

Xfce documentation and Wiki Ideas
by Brock Hudson
I would like to first respond to Nathan's email,
"Not everyone who uses Fedora has easy, unlimited to access to the
internet, so at some point we need to get the new Xfce guide available
in some downloadable form. But the wiki is definitely a good place to
develop the guide."
Great point, never thought about that, we should absolutely cater to
those individuals. As far as the format, I'm not really a fan of PDF
but I am sure individuals in the mailing lists have some ideas on how
to make this portable for users.
Upon brainstorming, I thought that perhaps we use wiki as our testing
grounds for what goes into the Official Documentation. We can all
decide what makes it in, and while transferring it to Official
Documentation we can also create portable formats for users. I think we
should branch Wiki documentation into two areas, Stable and Rawhide,
because I know some users already compile and use the newest releases
and updates for Fedora and we can get a jump start on Rawhide
Documentation by allowing those individuals to contribute in that wiki.
Rawhide documentation could then transfer into stable after review and
finally transfer to official docs prior to Rawhide's release.

Regarding XFCE wiki page
by Brock Hudson
Regarding this page http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Xfce, I noticed that
it gives only two options, installing Xfce via yum and using the spin
cd. Would it be appropriate to include the DVD, I know by default it
doesn't include Xfce but adding 1 additional repository before
installation allows you install more than just KDE and Gnome. Could I
possibly edit this?

Interested in Helping
by Brock Hudson
Hello, I have been an avid user of both XFCE and Fedora. I was
wondering if I could possibly enlist to help out in the XFCE SIG? I am
currently looking to help with XFCE itself as a developer and help with
Documentation. I also wanted to do my part for my favourite
distribution as well. Please any information you could give me would be
great.

Conky troubles
by Suvayu Ali
Hi everyone,
For a few months now I have been unable to run conky with XFCE. Earlier
the following configuration used to work without any problems:
background yes
...
own_window yes
own_window_class Conky
own_window_type override
own_window_transparent yes
But since a few months back this stopped working. I like to have it
displayed on all desktops overlayed translucently on the wallpaper, so
I tried the options desktop and override. With override I don't get any
display at all, with desktop I get a display but it goes away the
moment I click on the desktop.
I have tried running conky with or without the daemonize/background
option with no avail. Anyone has any ideas about what could be the
problem here?
TIA

nm-applet
by Marcus Moeller
Hi all,
I am currently testing the latest 4.8 builds from Christoph. I am starting the session either with startxfce4 or from GDM.
Now I am trying to get nm-applet to work but it fails to connect to a network with the following error:
Connection was not provided by any settings service.
I thought it was a ConsoleKit problem so i tried to launch
exec ck-launch-session startxfce4
But without any luck.
Kind Regards
Marcus
