Hi, I am on F14. exo-open or xdg-open keeps opening directories or unknown mime types with evince. Earlier the application associated with application/x-directory was empty; setting it with "xdg-mime default ..." doesn't help in anyway. $ xdg-mime query default application/x-directory Thunar.desktop Can anyone suggest what is wrong? -- Suvayu Open source is the future. It sets us free.

Terminal is missing its dependencies

Hi All, In Scientific Linux 6, Terminal mashes certain letters together. On investigation, I found that Terminal's RPM had no dependencies. I reported this as a bug to Xfce, but they declined it as it is an RPM problem and not theirs. https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7706 Over on the bug, I added a graphic to show the overlap problem: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/attachment.cgi?id=3726 And, if you install nautilus-open-terminal, one of its dependencies solves the Terminal overlap problem. I have documented nautilus-open-terminal's dependencies over on the bug report as well. Would whoever maintains the SL 6 RPM for Terminal please take a look over at the dug and add the proper dependencies into the RPM? Many thanks, -T

Terminal cursor missing

I'm doing some more testing of the XFCE 4.8 packages in EPEL 6 and have just noticed that I don't have any cursor in the terminal window. If the cursor is over a letter, it gets highlighted (green in my case) but is otherwise invisible. How can I get the block cursor back? Floppy on desktop problem

Hi All, Apparently SL6 and FC15 do not automatically support floppy drives anymore. (I had to put a "modprobe floppy" in my rc.local to get my /dev/fd0 back.) Problem, my floppy disk still does not show up on my desktop even with the modprobe in the rc.local. How do I get my floppy disk to show up on my desktop again when I insert a disk? Many thanks, -T

Video thumbnails using tumbler-freeworld (Reviewer wanted!)

As you might know thumbnails in Thunar are generated with tumbler. The tumbler package in Fedora however cannot include the tumbler-ffmpeg plugin. By popular demand I now rolled an add-on package called tumbler-freeworld. GDM and language selection

Hi everyone, excuse me if the solution was already given but I can't find how to work around GDM non-language selection. F15 common bugs list[0] says to look at System settings > Region & language, but I can't find this menu on XFCE. The trick from the GDM documentation [1] doesn't seem to work. Setting ~/.dmrc to chmod 644 and <<< EOS [Desktop] Session=xfce Language:xx_XX.UTF-8 EOS doesn't have any effect :( [0]: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F15_bugs#Cannot_select_language_or_...
