Cheese Application Locking Up.
by Randall Berry
Has anyone been having Cheese lockups under Xfce? Every time I take a
picture Cheese locks up. I've noticed this for a while now. It takes the
picture and saves it but all the buttons lock up afterward. Even the
control buttons in the window are locked. Video still goes on.
I've filed a bug[1] but unless they get enough complaints from Xfce
users and the problem doesn't happen on gnome they probably won't bother
to fix it. So, if you're having the same problem please add your
comments to the bug. Thanks...

media mount point question
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
When you install from the live CD, all your
automatic mount points are in
/run/media/user
A bit of an irritant, as I expect them
to be in /media
is there a way to move the mount points back to
pain old
/media
?
Many thanks,

My Xfce default session workaround
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Scientific Linux 6.4, 64 bit.
Xfce 4.8
As I am running several KDE apps. (Krusader, Kompozer, K3B),
every so often after an update, I get booted up into KDE (sometimes
GNOME). If happened again this morning. Pain in the neck.
As Red Hat is dragging the feet fixing the various GDM bugs
that cause this, I have developed my own work around in the
mean time. If you are having the same issue, I hope this
helps you as well:
1) log out of KDE or GNOME desktop. If you are using
Automatic log on, cancel it.
2) open an alternate command prompt and log in as root
<cltr><alt><f2>
3) # cd /usr/share/xsessons
4) move or rename all desktops, except Xfce's. Note that
KDE has two (kde-plasma.desktop kde-plasma-safe.desktop).
You should look like this:
# ls
gnome.desktop.orig
kde-plasma.desktop.orig
kde-plasma-safe.desktop.orig
xfce.desktop
Note: I have been known to just delete the .desktops
I don't want
5) # reboot

F19 --> F18 feasible?
by Beartooth
My old Thinkpad T30 (on which I ran fedup from F18 to F19) is
beginning to seem like more effort than it's worth, even if eventual
success of the effort were a sure thing. Is there a FedDown lurking out
there somewhere?
Will an install DVD for F18 (preferably one with gnome as well as
xfce4) let me treat the installation as if it were an upgrade, and
preserve my data and tweaks?
Failing both of the above, does anyone have any experience
running CentOS on a T30 or comparable?
