need recommendation for remote assistance program
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
I have a customer with FC19. Xfce was installed from
the Live CD. Son as I get iptables straightened out,
I will have SSH access to it
Do you guys have any recommendations for a remote
assistance program that will work over ssh (the -X mode)?
Found something called "vinagre" but could not figure
out how to set up the server part.
Many thanks,
-T

Xfce freeze ups
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
First on the blue rat icon with the X Xfce pop up, where
is the version icon? Why do I have to go to the command
line and RPM to figure out what version I am on?
The version icon should not be so obscured that it is not
instantly accessible.
$ rpm -qa xfce\*
xfce4-session-engines-4.8.1-4.el6.x86_64
Okay, enough bitching (I just crashed and lost all
my work, so I am a bit crabby -- sorry).
Is there FINALLY a new version of Xfce for Scientific
Linux 6.4 (RHEL 6.4 clone)?
For why I want this and why I am in crabby mood, see
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1009665
This crashing is as bad as any Windows machine I have
ever seen. Okay maybe not as bad as Vista or Frankenstein
(W8), but still once a day is pretty bad. Linux should
only crash when you pour coffee on it or kick it over.
Many thanks,

Cannot edit events in Orage
by Suvayu Ali
Hi,
A few weeks back I added some events from a bunch of ics files. My
default does not set alarms. Today when I wanted to set an alarm for
one of the events, the gui would let me edit but not save the change.
This does not happen for an event I added by hand today.
Any ideas how I can debug?
Thanks,

How to fix missing scroll arrows on FC19, Firefox, and Xfce
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
I use the FC19 Xfce Live CD to install FC19 on my
clients computers. It works very well.
Problem. The default "Adwaita" style does not have
scroll arrows. This especially shows up on Firefox.
I had to make a return trip to a customer's site
yesterday to fix this.
Reference:
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.general/424758
Return trips cause a lot of inconvenience. And the
missing arrows makes FC19/Firefox/Xfce look stupid
to the new customer.
Would the developers of the Live CD, on the next spin,
please consider changing the default style to something else?
If anyone else is having the missing scroll arrow problem,
to correct:
--> Application Menu
--> Settings (menu)
--> Appearance (icon)
-- Style (tab)
Choose a difference "Style". "Xfce-Winter" is a good
alternative. You have to log off and back on to get
your arrows to activate.
Many thanks,

Anyone know of a deliberate bad security live cd iso to test with?
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
I am getting tooled up to do some Penitration Testing
for PCI compliance (Ethical Hacking).
Refernce:
https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/pdfs/infosupp_11_3_penetration_testi...
There is a VM Ware virtual machine out there that is
a deliberte security nightmare to practice with.
Problem: I use KVM and Spice, not VM Ware. And I
run Live CD through KVM.
Anyone know of a similar Live CD or KVM machine that is
deliberately a security nightmare to practice with?
Many thanks,
