change the Alt-Tab selection colour
by Rajesh Khan
I am using xfce on Fedora 20. Currently when I press Alt-Tab a list of
applications that are currently running appear however the select
application is inside a square whose color and thickness I would like to
change. My question is how can I change the color and possibly the
thickness of the box that highlights the application under selection (i.e)
when I press Alt+Tab again that box moves to the next application upon
selecting it that application is brought in view.

Live CD Request for Enhancement: Smarter Mail Client
by Raphael Groner
My suggestion is to replace claws-mail with a smarter mail client:
either Balsa or Geary
First benefit is to save same space in the image. Second, Geary and
Balsa are both based at gtk3 which should be the better hope instead of
enforcing gtk2.
% LC_ALL=C yum info geary |grep Size
Size : 4.8 M
% LC_ALL=C yum info balsa |grep Size
Size : 7.3 M
% LC_ALL=C yum info claws-mail |grep Size
Size : 17 M
I assume it's not needed to ship all those great plugins for
claws-mail, and both geary as well balsa have great configuration
wizards open at the first start. Settings can be considered to be
vanishable in the sense of a live image, don't they?
Balsa is themable via gtk3 while Geary has a more modern design.
Both packages seem to be actively maintained. No idea about upstreams.
All in all, a live user should not be expected to see as many feature
as possible with an image that has a feature to limit in size.
What do you think?

Changing the font color on the panel
by Rajesh Khan
I have been working on this for a while now but all my efforts have failed.
I would like to change the forecolor of the font in my panel. For instance
the "Application Menu" is currently in white and I would like to make it
blue. While searching on this topic I came under a post which stated that
this could be accomplished by adding a stylesheet parameter to the
~/.gtkrc-2.0 . However that did not work. I also wanted to change the width
of scrollbars adding that to my ~/.gtkrc-2.0 worked. Now my question is how
can i change the font color of text in my panel . Any help would be
appreciated. Below is a copy of my .gtkrc-2.0 and I installed Xfce on top
of fedora 20. I tried putting in any randowm colour but nothing seems to
work for the foreground color of the font
#change width of scrollbars
style "myscrollbar"
{
GtkScrollbar::slider-width=20
}
class "GtkScrollbar" style "myscrollbar"
# this is the new part added by bgryderclock
style "xfdesktop-icon-view" {
XfdesktopIconView::label-alpha = 0
#Text colors you can delete these if you want you use gtk theme colors
fg[NORMAL] = "#ffff0f"
fg[SELECTED] = "#00fff0"
fg[ACTIVE] = "#00f0ff"
}
widget_class "*XfdesktopIconView*" style "xfdesktop-icon-view"

Fwd: Listing our current forces

Hi folks,
This email (below) was sent to xfce4-dev today. Should we list
Xfce-SIG of Fedora for QA? I think this would increase communication
between upstream and us, potentially.
Cheers,
Mukundan.

Hi everyone,
Following discussion today on IRC, we've started a Wiki page
(https://wiki.xfce.org/people) on which all Xfce contributors can list
the areas in which they're willing to work in the future.
This list will be very useful in:
- - identifying weak spots, where we urgently need new contributors
- - ensuring that each SIG has one person monitoring progress and
setting milestones
I'd like to ask everyone to add themselves onto the list to help us
reach that goal. If you're a Xfce distributor, you can also indicate
on that list how your team can help us e.g., by providing testing or
developer effort on apps, by giving us a contact point for bug
triaging, etc.
Thanks,

Re: Keypad does not work in X
by Raphael Groner
Is that an USB keyboard? If yes, I would suspect a driver issue and
this list would be the wrong place to ask cause Xfce has nothing to do
with drivers and/or Xorg configuration.

Keypad does not work in X
by Philip Rhoades
People,
I don't make much use of the keypad so when it hasn't worked in recent
version of Fedora (currently v20 x86_64), I have usually been in a hurry
and have just used the numbers on the main keyboard - but now this
problem is annoying me!
The console keypad works fine - but in X, whether I use NumLock on or
off - I get nothing - nada, zip - not numbers, not cursor movement,
nothing. The NumLock light comes on but there's nothing at home . . Is
this an XFCE problem or something else? - I spent a lot of time Googling
but came up with nothing . .
Thanks,
Phil.

Please circulate invitation to participate in Xfce user research
by Steve Dodier-Lazaro
Hi,
I'm writing as a member of the Xfce Design SIG to inform you we're
opening two user surveys to gather user experiences on Xfce's session
saving feature and UI, and the XDG Autostart UI. Below are the links
to both surveys.
Online survey on session saving: http://goo.gl/forms/3oYrPQNDEt
Online task on autostart app UI: http://goo.gl/forms/c7qYcIE0EQ
We'd like each of the main Xfce distributors to advertise the survey
to their userbase, so that we design a solution that works for
everyone and not just <insert competitor name here>! ;-) The links
above already provide information on the content of the surveys and
how the data is handled, so you can keep the advertising short. This
is what we'll be using for our own advertising effort:
Hi,
I'm writing as a member of the Xfce Design SIG to invite the Xfce users and
enthusiasts among you to participate to user research we're doing
on sessions,
login and autostart applications. Each survey takes under 10
minutes to complete.
By completing these surveys, you help us understand what's useful
for you and
make Xfce more usable and enjoyable!
Questionnaire on logins and session saving: http://goo.gl/forms/3oYrPQNDEt
Online task on the app autostart settings: http://goo.gl/forms/c7qYcIE0EQ
Cheers,
If you have any questions, you can find me on the #xfce-dev IRC,
nickname sidi. Thanks!

Xfce volume bar issue - Does not get out of mute
by Rajesh Khan
After installing Xfce on my fedora 20 machine. I could not find a volume
bar in my panel so I did the following
sudo yum install xfce4-mixer
I then added the following
Pannel >> Add New Items >> Audio Mixer
The Audio Mixer appeared and seems to be working fine. However there is one
problem. If I drag the volume bar all the way down the sound goes on mute.
Dragging it all the way up then does not unmute the sound. Any suggestions
on how I can fix this problem ?
