XFCE 4.12 on EPEL7
by Martin Sourada
Hi all,
are there any plans on getting Xfce 4.12 on epel7 (e.g. copr repo)? I've
been able to mockchain build pretty much everything sans:
pragha-1.2.2-5.fc20.src.rpm (missing deps, more than one, haven't tried
yet rebuilding them all)
ristretto-0.8.0-1.fc23.src.rpm (missing deps for libappstream-glib
which is unbuildable on epel7: too old glib, but fails late in build
process)
libxfcegui4-4.10.0-7.el7.src.rpm
xfce4-timer-plugin-0.6.1-17.el7.centos.src.rpm
xfce4-radio-plugin-0.5.1-10.el7.centos.src.rpm
xfce4-quicklauncher-plugin-1.9.4-19.el7.centos.src.rpm
xfce4-cpufreq-plugin-1.0.0-11.el7.centos.src.rpm
Haven't tried the functionality though yet.
Regards,
Martin

Places plugin and GCC 5
by Suvayu Ali
Hi,
I was wondering are there plans to add a Fedora specific patch for this
bug https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11939 until it is fixed
upstream? The places plugin is kinda part of any standard XFCE desktop.
If there are plans, but lack of people, I could give it a shot. I would
need a bit of guidance though.
Thanks,

Persistence question for the Live CD guy
by ToddAndMargo
Dear Xfce Live CD Guy,
Reference: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1230460
I can find Live Install on the desktop when I burn to
a DVD or a USB. But only on the USB if I have not
enabled "persistence" (--overlay-size-mb and/or --home-size-mb)
Is this on purpose?
Many thanks,
-T
"persistence" doesn't works very well anyway and I have
found it much easier just to directly install to a
flash drive, so no big deal on this question, I am
just curious.

Is there an http(s) server on the live spin?
by Ron Leach
List, good afternoon,
Because we have only a slow Internet connection, and are capacity
limited, we don't have a recent spin on which we could check whether
there is an https server present or running. We have some older
spins, and these do not have any service running on localhost:80. One
reason for wondering whether there was an http server present is that
we were thinking of using a live spin on a spare laptop to create a
temporary web-server, for example at an offsite event, or even in our
own network for temporarily serving whatever content.
Is an http server included on the current spin? If so, can it also
provide https service, even if using a temporary self-signed certificate?
Grateful for any information,
regards, Ron

Live DVD bug report
by ToddAndMargo
Dear Xfce Live CD developer(s):
The problems described here with the Xfce Live DVD are not
reproducible with Fedora-Live-Workstation-x86_64-22-3.iso.
This problem is also not reproducable with Fedora-Live-Xfce-x86_64-21-5.iso
When Fedora-Live-Workstation-x86_64-22-3.iso is installed to
a flash drive (Kingston_DTR30G2, 16GB USB3), the flash drive
will boot once, then hang at various stages of the
boot process (no one process in particular). Sometimes
the boot gets far enough along that <ctrl><alt<f2> is
active, other times not.
If you rename /var/log/journal, it will reboot one time
and run poorly. Then back to hanging.
Also, you need to change the linux16 line in grub.conf
from
root=drive
to
root=UUID=uuid_of_drive
This is the default for Fedora-Live-Workstation-x86_64-22-3.iso
Many thanks,
-T
