Looking for new owners of my packages

Hi there,
as (some of) you probably already have noticed, I have been a really
lousy maintainer for the last 1-2 years. I am just too busy with my
dayjob and in real life. Fortunately people like Kevin and Mukundan
have stepped up and took care of my Xfce packages. Thank you, I really
appreciate your help.
In March of last year I joined SUSE. My idea was to do SUSE /
Enterprise in my job and continue with Fedora / community as my hobby,
but this doesn't really work out. You have to eat your own dog food
and work with the community. I am no longer using Fedora on a daily
basis, thus I shouldn't maintain it. I will step down form most Fedora
roles, most importantly from my role as packager.
I just realized that I had a various ACL requests from Mukundan,
Robert and Michael pending in Package-DB. So far, I approved the
requests for commit access from Mukundan because I have already worked
with him, but I am unsure what to do with the others.
Robert, Michael: Are you still interesting in (co-)maintaining the
packages you applied for?
Kevin, Mukundan: Who should become primary owner of the packages?
And who of you four is willing to actually look after the packages,
means who will take care of watchbugzilla and watchcommitts?
I suggest we quickly discuss this here and then you apply for the
privileges you want. I will approve your requests and then give up my
privileges except for commit access. It's not like I'm completely
gone. ;-)

I haven't processed your requests because I think it is on Mukundan as
the new owner. i'm sure he will approve your requests.

whatever you want. Plenty of lean GTK apps that fit the Xfce desktop
nicely. Request ACLs as necessary. If you formally want to take
ownership, please let me know by replying to this mail.

Review: Korona Live

Korora is a live spin Fedora Core 25 and Xfce 4.12.
Its goal is to provide a working desktop right off the spin.

I had a customer call me who was running M$ Vista. Well Fargo
bumped him for being unsupported by M$.

If Wells Fargo cared a wit about security, they wouldn't allow
Internet Explorer or Windows for that matter at all, but ...
[/editorial comment].
When I arrived, I found that his system had reverted to factory
default. Everything was gone. He did not know what he did
to cause this (he selected factory reinstall on boot in bios).
So I showed him Korora live (it has ublock orgin in Firefox).
He likes it and told me to put it on.
Review:
Pluses: It is a nice package with several of the things customer's
use already loaded. Libre Office was a real plus as it is a large
download.
Minuses:
1) in an attempt to be cute, it is way, way too "artsy fartsy". The icons
are not what you expect to see. You have to hover over them to see
what they are. This is cute, but anti intuitive. They do not include
the regular icons so you can change them back.
2) in desktop setting, I was unable to select an alternate file path
for the back drops. The file system was grayed out.
3) Xfce Pol-Kit was not working. This means I had to fire up the
printer setup utility from the command line as root. When run
as a user, everything was grayed out and Xfce Pol-Kit did not
prompt for elevation. The lack of elevation was not limited
to the printer setup utility
Next time, I will stick with the regular live spin.

I carry Libre Office with me on a stick, so its size is not a
big issue. And I can easily dnf shotwell and kpat.
That being said, the customer said his computer was multiple
times faster and was tickled. He really only uses Firefox,
and once he figured out the artsy farsty blur ball icon,
he was very happy.

State of Xfce in Fedora - upstream defaults versus custom defaults

Hello there,
I'm a relatively new Fedora user, but I've been using Xfce on and off on
several distros such as Xubuntu, Mint, Debian, and Arch.
From my understanding, Fedora spins tend to provide desktop experiences
that are close to the default setting for Gnome, Plasma, Xfce, and others.
That's usually a reasonable approach, but in the case of Xfce, I think the
defaults are horrible and give a wrong impression of a lackluster and ugly
desktop environment.
Defaults are usually used in release screenshots and in reviews, and if you
compare Xubuntu and Fedora Xfce, you might get the impression that the
latter is far less polished.
The differences are technically minimal, but can make a bit difference for
newcomers and reviewers.
This morning I installed xfce on my fedora 25 base and I spent about 30
minutes configuring it to a state where it looks good (subjective), works
like I want (highly subjective) and it now is a very pleasant experience.
Here are some things in the settings I did that I feel should be default
behavior, but are not :
- Tile a window to the left / right with Super + Left / Right
- Maximize a window with Super + Up
- Don't drag a window across virtual desktops (since it clashes with snap
to edge behavior)
- Whisker menu
- Don't change focus when you simply scroll over a window
-Orage Time date plugin
Can this kind of straight improvements be implemented in the spin, or has
this already been discussed to death and rejected?

Introduction

Hi all,
I am new to this list.
I started to use Fedora about year and half ago and Xfce is my DE of
choice. It occurred to me that maybe it is about time for me to help a
bit with Fedora efforts and I thought that starting slowly, maybe
testing new versions of packages for the DE I like and use daily would
be cool.
I have a few questions for the start:
* What would be the best way to get notified about new Xfce packages in
testing repository?
* Does anyone of you by any chance have a script or a list of packages
needed to install on Fedora to be able to compile Xfce straight from Git?

live cd question

I want to add a Firefox icon to his desktop and add "ublock orgin"
to Firefox.
How would I do this?

Default notify position makes it hard to change volume, thoughts?

Hi,
So I've been annoyed by the default position of xfce4-notifyd for a
while (since sometime in Fedora 24). When I try to change the volume
from the volume plugin on the top right, the notify shows up and covers
the volume control.
Recent I filed a bug here[1].
Kevin thought this worth a discussion so I send this here.
My current workaround is, either move the volume icon to somewhere else,
or change the default position of notification. And this is not user
friendly enough as it require the user to configure it themselves.
So thoughts?

I am the downstream (Fedora) maintainer for both these packages. I can
probably add icon (xfce4-power-manager-settings.svg) for xfpm. I will
look into this.
But the other package, xfpanel-switch provides no icon (upstream). There
has been no response to my original bug report about adding an appdata
file [1]. I am not going to make the icon (nor do I have the expertise)
- so I am not sure what I am going to do about this. Perhaps, I will
just have to live with xfpanel-switch not showing up on GNOME software.
