Fedora 42 and XFCE 4.20 TLC

Hi all! XFCE 4.20 is in Fedora 42, woo! I was thinking this would be a good time to do some TLC on the website/docs. For instance: * Update the spins (https://fedoraproject.org/spins/xfce) page with a more recent screenshot and update the list of installed applications * * Abiword is no longer included, for example. Should we switch that and Gnumeric to LibreOffice? I personally quite like Gnumeric, so maybe find an alternate writer? * * I've made a screenshot from Fedora 42 Rawhide 20250204.n.0 in the same spirit as the current example: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Screenshot_2025-02-06_14-18-50.png'. I can add that if someone wouldn't mind reminding me how to update the spins.fedoraproject.org page (: * I've also edited https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Xfce (only for English, sorry :/). Xfce 4.20 for F42/Rawhide?

Hey folks, Xfce 4.20~pre1 released this week[1], and I was wondering if we're going to have it land in Rawhide anytime soon? I'd especially like to get libxfce4windowing updated (which requires updating the xfce4-dev-tools package) to unblock Budgie desktop work too. If we're not ready yet to get the full desktop updated (presumably you may want to have a Change document for Xfce 4.20?), can we get xfce4-dev-tools updated so I can update libxfce4windowing? Can't start from ligntdm

Hi All, Fedora 40 xfce 4.18 I cannot start xfce from lightdm. It tried, give me a bunch of errors about xinit: unable to connect to x server But xfce starts fine from the command lien with startx ?????????? xfce start issues

Hi All, Fedora 40 Xfce 4.18 Yes, I have googles (search.brave.com) this. Xfce won't start with startxfce4 but will with startx. This is the xinit (same as the startxfce4 error) error I am getting: $ xinit (EE) Fatal server error: (EE) Server is already active for display 0 If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock and start again. (EE) (EE) Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support at http://wiki.x.org for help. (EE) No protocol specified xinit: giving up xinit: unable to connect to X server: Resource temporarily unavailable xinit: server error removing /tmp/.X0-lock does no good. xfce HiDPI, 4.19, wayland

I got a new HiDPI laptop, and GDK_SCALE=2 makes things more bearable with Fedora 40's Xfce 4.18, but it's almost too "big". I would love something half-way between GDK_SCALE=1 and 2. What are other people doing about Xfce on HiDPI screens? I'm also wondering if anyone has tried Xfce 4.19 on Fedora yet? What packages did you need to modify from what is already in Fedora 40? Did you get it running with Wayland? - Ken

Live ISO install leaves Weston as the default

Live image Fedora-Xfce-Live-x86_64-Rawhide-20240219.n.0.iso if you install to disk, the default login on first boot is Weston not Xfce. onboard still in the Xfce spin

Any tablets to go with the ARM spin?

Should Xfce's Orage be brought back?

Fedora retired Orage (small Xfce calendar app) some while back. I can't remember what triggered the decision (most likely a bug), but I seem to recall at the time it was perceived to be abandoned upstream. If I'm not mistaken it appears to be under active development again, so I was wondering if it should be brought back to Fedora? What prompted this consideration is that tint2 (lightweight X11 desktop panel typically used in Openbox) calls out to Orage if you click the time/date on the panel. [Request] Orage package in next spins release

Hello, Sorry for keep coming back here. I just want to ask, is there anyway to make orage available in next fedora release? I been building orage myself, and it's handy as part of xfce4 desktop tools. I never built any rpms, last time I tried to build one, I failed (following hello world fedora), but I can at least building orage on Fedora 38. Is there anyway to contribute for this? I willing to learn, but it will take some times. any suggestion/help appreciated. Thank you
