ok.
I poked some more at the spin and managed to get it back to under size with dropping the following:
gnumeric (do people really need a spreadsheet on a live media?) gimp (as pointed out, gimp is very cool, but it's not really something people trying out Xfce need to use/see). some aspell dicts
This takes us down to 695MB.
Thoughts?

Good news. Is there an image I could try? I'd like to test the RC3 beta, but I can only do so from a CD.
gnumeric (do people really need a spreadsheet on a live media?)
You're probably correct. Oddly, Gnumeric is sometimes more 'xls' compatible than OOo is, I've found. But unless someone is 'checking' whether fedora represents a possible path away from Windows, particularly in a business environment where xls compatibility is pretty crucial, I wouldn't think it matters too much.
I guess I'm wondering that people use 'live spins' to 'see if something looks promising'. Committed/Believing users will already know, and won't need a spreadsheet.

Kevin, apologies for not understanding this 'diff' report. Does this mean wget will be 'in' or 'out'? wget on a live spin is very handy, and can sometimes help dig you out of a hole with another non-functioning OS, most especially because it will restart on a less-than-stellar internet link..
And, thanks, by the way, for trying hard to keep FF/java on the spin. Really is much appreciated.
regards, Ron

wget actually is not affected by this change. The diff just tells, the changes were made nearly the line

What actually changed is, that fpaste was added. :)
Hope this helps you understanding the diff a bit better. :)

It will be in, no changes. Only lines with + or - are changed.

Christoph, thanks. The web page still shows it as 729M. That's the same size I tried before, and the CD didn't write properly/completely.
Perhaps Kevin hasn't released it yet?

Yes, that's why he showed us the diff, he did not yet commit the changes. You can always see the latest version at http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=spin-kickstarts.git

I have not yet commited the above change. ;)
I was waiting for some feedback from here.
It sounds like folks are ok with it, so I will go ahead and push the change tonight and it should be in tomorrows compose.
