Hi,

why not using as a starting point of your goal to become a fedora 
packager? ;-)
It should be fairly easy to package and I am sure someone is probably 
willing to sponsor you if you do some reviews!

I did not know that this is a goal of mine. :D

Just hope that someone else wants to maintain this package. :)

I think you really should give it a try. You are using Fedora for quite
a while, now it's time to give something back. Also, being maintainer of
a package and receiving it's bug reports would be a useful experience
for you I think. ;)
