Hey everyone.
Per a note on the docs list: http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/docs/2012-August/014540.html
The "Beats" are open for Fedora 18...
I see that there is currently no one signed up to do Xfce in the desktop section.
Would anyone like to step up and write this?
Note that for F18, we have updated to Xfce 4.10, so we can add a bunch of 4.10 goodies from the feature page.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Xfce-4.10
Any takers?

Since nobody else has stepped up, I might be willing to give this a try. Is it really involved? Can you point me to the one for the current release so I can see what I'm getting into?
Thanks,

We didn't have anything in the Fedora 17 one. :(
See the page history:
https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=Documentation_Desktop_Beat&o...
Basically the docs folks gather up all this info and convert it into the release notes at docs.fedoraproject.org.
The Fedora 16 one had a bit on Xfce 4.8:
https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=Documentation_Desktop_Beat&o...
So, basically it should be a "whats new and cool in 4.10" for Fedora 18. Things people upgrading would like to know or new users might be interested in before choosing Xfce.

Jayson, I might help you now that there are live-CDs already ( http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/18-Alpha-RC2/Live/i386/ ).
Unfortunately I couldn't make it work from ISO. There was a script I used to patch the initrd but it didn't work with this ISO. It's very slow from the CD (they will certainly improve that as it took a very long time to boot). Note: my hardware is old.
Re. the live-CD itself: - icon theme is set to 'Rodent' but when the desktop came up (BTW, it boots to lightdm login screen) it was showing the GNOME icon theme. - it's set to not show images in the menu (Settings>Appearance). Just saying, I don't know if this is just the default Xfce setup. - particular to my case, auto-mounting worked for me after I don't even know how long ago (it didn't work with F17 live-CDs). I'll check thunar-volman's version in F17 to see if it's because of that but I suspect it's some underlying service that it uses (I have removed thunar-volman from my installed system but I'll try it again). - panel doesn't have neither mixer applet nor clipman applet, but it may fall on that 'default Xfce' rule. - first time I clicked on the 'web browser' launcher it didn't open anything, then I opened the 'preferred applications' to see if it was set and it was (Firefox) then next time the launcher worked. This I suspect was just my system struggling to run the CD.
I've added my name to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:Documentation_beats#Changes_in_Fedor... just to show that it will be done. Have you written anything yet, Jayson? I know it's quite simple so if you haven't I can do that until tomorrow.
I think we just need to add it to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Documentation_Desktop_Beat
Here's the first draft: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Documentation_Desktop_Beat#Xfce

Hey everyone - I needed to come reply here anyway. I've got a lot of stuff going on at work (in the process of changing jobs/roles), so it's unlikely I'll be able to devote any real time to this. HUGE thanks to Sergio for stepping up and helping make this happen!
Just a heads up that anyone with a fedoraprojects account can add his/hers contribution to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Documentation_Desktop_Beat#Xfce
