Hi all.
Some of you might have already noticed, that the Adwaita theme has been updated recently. It now includes a full GTK2 port, replacing the old Clearlooks fallback. That's great in general, but seems to cause some issues with non-GNOME DEs.
First of all, drop down menus do no longer have borders. This has been the case with GTK3 apps, already, and has been reported upstream a long time ago (without any real reaction).
Besides that the panel window buttons are looking stucked now, as there is no spacing between and around them.
What are your ideas to handle these things? Is switching to another theme an option (maybe Greybird, which seems to be maintained well and is accepted by the userbase, already)?

well, it's good news that default gnome3 theme finally have a gtk2 counterpart, but that's far as the fun things go, IMHO. I've never been a great proponent of Adwaita, I actually consider it to be rather on the ugly side (inconsistent, looking half-done, plus the issues you talk about), IMHO clearlooks, while oldish, looks waaay better and it has **normal** scrollbars. On that note, I googled a little and it seems there is an unofficial port of Clearlooks for GTK3:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Clearlooks-Phenix?content=145210
Maybe we can try that? As for greybird and similar -- well, it looks great (and unlike with Adwaita, I can see the designer(s) had put a lot of effort in every single detail), but IMHO it's not very good for long-term usage by your average fedora user.
Cheers, Martin

Clearlooks is quite outdated. I would really welcome a port of Nodoka ;)

It must be something that's packaged. I can't say much as I use a downloaded theme too and have neither Adwaita (which BTW is the older version still in F17) nor *looks. But whichever is better done all around should be used, I suppose.

That one's nowhere near finishing, sadly. I'm just starting the complete code rewrite and I got a little bit sidetracked (a bad habit of mine) into learning about color managing and color spaces, doxygen, check and improving my autotools and C skills...
