Hi All,
I can get the 64 bit live cd to boot in KVM (host = SL 6.2 x64)
Fedora-16-x86_64-Live-XFCE.iso
But, when I switch my CDROM drive to
Fedora-16-i686-Live-XFCE.iso
Fedora goes through the motions of trying to boot, then dies at
Starting SYSV: Late init script for live image.... Started SYSV: Late init script for live image.. Start SYSV: Late init script for live image
I tried re-downloading the ISO, no joy. If I burn to a CD and directly boot to it (no virtual machine), the CD does work.
Any idea how to fix this?
Many thanks, -T

How did you set up the vm?
while i tested on f16 host using kvm and x86_64 as the arch it is booting just fine. i get a desktop working in about 15-20 seconds. i believe if you set the arch to 1686 or 1386 you actually dont get kvm used and just plain qemu which is much much slower

Same as I did my x86_64, line for line, except architecture was i686 and I added a USB device.

So did mine (x86_64). Sorry I did not make that more clear. I am having problems with the i686 spin.

Is there a way to boot off the Xfce spin, go in to text mode (init 3) and do the install from there?
Many thanks, -T

dont change the arch off of x86_64 or KVM will not work correctly. i booted the i686 livecd just fine when the arch was x86_64 i did not try forcing the arch to i686, afaik it should work but will be using qemu and not accelerated.

Hi Christoph,
This is a good sign. Means I am doing something wrong and that can be corrected.
Would you please post back your /etc/libvirt/qemu/xxx.xml file for your 32 bit VM? That way, I will be able to isolate my boo-boo.
Many thanks, -T

Hi Christoph,
Thank you!
A trip over to "virsh edit KVM-FC16-x32" (first forgetting I could not use VI directly), I changed my vcpu you yours
<vcpu>1</vcpu>
And, my arch to yours
<type arch='x86_64'
no joy.
But noticing you had no <cpu></cpu> section, I erased my whole (the cpu section), and that fixed it.
Thank you so much for the help!
