No, IBM should work as well.  Others work too (e.g. the console works on 
HP-UX using the HP provided JRE).

It does not depend on specific gtk libraries.  The GUI uses the Swing 
toolkit which, as far as the console code is concerned, is platform 
independent.

So it might just work with the OSX jre.
