[389-users] GUI console fails to show up after upgrade

I had to do "update-alternatives --java" as root and it showed 1.6.0. 
update-alternatives --jre didn't show anything.  Changing it to the 1.4.2 
entry then back had no effect.

Based on the output above, I'm assuming I have to update that somehow? 
Yes, although I'm not sure why alternatives --config shows java 1.6.0
Try
alternatives --config jre
also

If that still doesn't work, try doing
alternatives --config java and --config jre
to change it to the gcj one, then change it back to the correct java 1.6.0

if you run 389-console -D 9 without the -f console.log arguments, does it 
output debug information to the terminal window?

java version "1.6.0_20"

OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode) 

update-alternatives shows: 
update-alternatives --config java 

There are 2 programs which provide 'java'. 

Selection    Command

1           /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.4.2-gcj/bin/java 
*+ 2           /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64/bin/java 

Enter to keep the current selection[+], or type selection number: 

So it is already configured to use 1.6.0, and 389-console still blows up 
as above.  Ideas? 
389-console -D 9 -f console.log - edit console.log to remove any sensitive 
info - paste to list
