Careful - The old Sun DS license forbids publishing of performance 
comparisons.

Indexing?  What indexes do you have on SunDS objectclass and cn? What is 
your allidsthreshold setting?
For RHDS/389 - what indexes do you have?  What is your idlistscanlimit?

Please provide any other cache or database tuning you performed on SunDS 
and 389.
