Subject: Fedora backing the LPI events in South Africa

Hi Thomas,

Recently I read an article on one of South Africa's leading OSS websites
(www.tectonic.co.za) related to the The Shuttleworth Foundation and how
from February 2007 they will stop being the South African affiliate of
the Linux Professional Institute (LPI).

As mentioned in the Article The Meraka Open Source Centre
(http://www.meraka.org.za) have been in contact with the LPI.

I was wondering what you thought of Fedora perhaps getting involved in
such an initiative along with the Meraka Open Source Centre?

It would take financial backing on Fedora's part though, as The
Shuttleworth Foundation's role was to pay a percentage of all the
applicants exam costs, thus making it more accessible to all. I have
attached the article below from you to read. The LPI events have always
been very successful I was part of the very first "Mass LPI"
certification event in Johannesburg and we had over 300 people all
writing the LPI certification exams on the same day.

Let me know what you think, I would be more than happy to work along
with the Meraka Open Source Centre and provide you with more information
related to how Fedora might become involved.
