I think that if we do a FAD (which I think is a fine idea - let's
bring it to NYC so I don't have to travel :D), we should do it with
the understanding that we will NOT be making decisions there, but
rather coming up with a concrete proposal for more broad discussions
so that the people that can't make don't feel disenfranchised. Note
that this same philosophy also applies if we do a phone call.

I really don't think that IRC would work for this - while it's a fine
method for collaborating on "X widget is broken", it really doesn't
lend itself to high-level discussions like these, and even phone is
better, but not ideal. We should have a whiteboard and completely open
discussion, IMHO.

As I said above, I think face to face is the most appropriate method
of dealing with this.
