Nelson,

Having read this and now your blog post about the same events at

http://ketheriel.wordpress.com/2010/03/29/ill-minded/

I feel the need to make a couple of remarks in defense of the
Ambassador group which in both places you cast in a negative light.

As you should know by now the person who offended you is not and has
never been a Fedora Ambassador and is perfectly free to join the
marketing mailing list to continue to argue with you if he wishes.
Will you run from that group too if he does?

In your blog after explaining your heightened sensitivity regarding
cultural matters you extrapolate this one individual's remarks into
something you refer to as "North American ignorance." Is that an
example of cultural sensitivity or cultural bias?

While I agree with you about the importance of using symbols
carefully, understanding them, and choosing them wisely, I think you
are wrong to lash out against the Ambassadors based on the actions of
one individual who isn't an Ambassador. That makes absolutely no
sense.

Ambassadors could learn something from this discussion as could the
rest of the Fedora Project.

A simple mail filter could have solved your problem in this case
without all this drama about resigning from a group based on the
actions of someone not in that group.

John
