The Heat is On!
---------------

In about 48hrs+ from now, I'll be giving a talk to the Enugu State
chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Architects on a topic titled:
Linux for Nigerian AEC Industry. I finally got a slot to deliver this
presentation last week and it was confirmed today by another Executive
Member.

Date: 19th May 2011
Venue: NIA Secretariat, Enugu Chapter
Time: Technical Session, 7pm
Turn-out: Usually >30

I have recorded this event on the Events page. My blog also contains my
thoughts on this event and should be on the planet soon. More ideas and
resource are appreciated. Remember, it has to be something that
architects can benefit from.

Hey twohot!

Thanks for attending this and spreading Fedora on that industry also :)

You might want to consider showcasing some CAD and management
applications hands on Fedora.
Blender can be used as a nice showcase as an industry standard that
has succeeded among proprietary competitors.

Is the event targeted to academics and users or also developers?

Waiting for reports and photos :)

I'm one of the Fedora Lebanon ambassadors, and today I received an email
from someone in the APAC region talking about working on FUDcon APAC.
While I appreciate the invitation to get involved, I was a bit confused
at the assumption that Lebanon is part of the APAC region.

As far as I understand it, the ME in EMEA stands for Middle East, and
Lebanon and the surrounding countries should be considered part of EMEA.
However,
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/MembershipService/Verification
has Lebanon listed under APAC, and, while
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/APAC/Countries doesn't have
Lebanon, it does have some of our neighboring countries listed.

So, which region should we consider ourselves part of?

Hey Jonathan!

Definitely consider yourself an EMEA region :)

I am gonna make sure that ME countries are considered EMEA on our wiki also ;)

@Joerg, can we make the appropriate changes on the Verification Service?

Welcome once again, and join us on tomorrow's meeting!

Thanks for the swift reply. I'll see what I can do to get it fixed in
the wiki.

Hi Igor,

thanks for the report!

the budget is wrong, namely the numbers for F14 media in EMEA. We had a
budget of 5000 EUR which by the time we got the purchase order was
around USD 6900. We only spent 2376,62 EUR ~ USD 3280, but never 7980 as
listed in the report.

Regards,
Christoph

Please take a moment and read this brief email, as it is important.

Fedora is in the process of retiring our old "Individual Contributor
License Agreement" (also known as the ICLA or CLA) and replacing it with
the new Fedora Project Contributor Agreement (FPCA).

All Fedora contributors with accounts in the Fedora Account System
(https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts) who have agreed to the old
CLA *MUST* agree to the new FPCA by June 17, 2011 to continue
contributing to Fedora.

Here is how you do this:

1) Login to the Fedora Account System:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts
2) Once logged in, click on the "My Account" link in the blue box on the
left side of the window.
3) On the page that loads, you will see a section labeled "Account
Details". Look for the line that says "Contributor Agreement". On that
line, you should see a new section that says:

"New CLA Not Signed - We need contributors to sign the new Contributor
Agreement(Complete it now!)"

Click on "Complete it now!" and follow the prompts.

*****

It is important that Fedora Account holders who have signed the old
Fedora CLA sign the new FPCA. We have allotted a window of one month for
Fedora contributors to agree to the FPCA. This means that after June 17,
2011, any Fedora Contributors who have not agreed to the FPCA will have
their "cla_done" flag set to False. This also means that any groups that
they are in which are dependent upon "cla_done", such as "packager",
"ambassador", and Fedora People access will be removed.

There are a few accounts which are exempt from this, specifically,
accounts which are members of the "cla_dell", "cla_intel", and
"cla_redhat" groups. If you do not know what these groups are, you are
probably not in them. :) Accounts in these groups will not see the "New
CLA Not Signed" line on their "My Account" page, and do not need to take
any action at this time.

Please take a minute and login to FAS to agree to the terms of the FPCA,
to avoid loss of access.

More information about the FPCA, including the final FPCA text, can be
found here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Legal:Fedora_Project_Contributor_Agreement

If you have any additional questions about the FPCA or the re-signing
process, please feel free to email me directly at legal at fedoraproject.org.

Thanks,

Tom Callaway, Fedora Legal
