FYI, the other community under fedora.or.id flag had been going (on and off) since about 2008, around the years where there weren't that much infrastructure could facilitate every needs of any (national) community.

The fedora.or.id team is somewhat far from free democracy, because they're just making sure of the sincerity of everyone who is interested in helping the community. We (the activists) were scattered throughout the vast islands of Indonesia, which probably met only once in a "real world" meetup back in 2008 when I visited. Bandung (where some other members lives).

Recently, we are having troubles with the domain (fedora.or.id) and then redirected to my domain (fedora-id.org). But the problem is now in progress to find a better solution.

As another proof of "existence", the group/forum then moved to facebook, group "fedora.indonesia" as you can see, with 1000+ members. Later on I, myself realized, that this is how the "now" generation communicate; via facebook. Our old mailing list (fedora-id at googlegroups) was already in silence for years, and back then there are more activities in our forum.

As a conclution, I can only hope that for the sake of fedora, those who are now "fighting" can step down and move on in only one community. I can also confirm that the managers of the "old" community are quite busy and maybe our friend Arif and his group were dissapointed with the neglection, but as I said once, building another community is not the correct way/answer to the neglection problem.

The damage is already done, but it takes a big person to calm down and reorganize.

John
