Can you put the ethernet and storage on different hubs? (it may not be..)

Does the issues replicate itself if you are using a usb drive  
connection instead of a sata one? (with the ethernet running through  
the hub still)

Or do you see similar crappy performance with the nic adapter  
unplugged and unused?

Can you plug the docking hubs into another hub before it reaches the device?

Can you tell if the nic adapter is going into a sleep mode?

Can you add power to the hub? (maybe it is drawing too much power if  
something is bus-powered..)
