Hi Andrew,

I have noticed that Fedora can't read the rtc clock to get the correct time on mine either. See in the log:

drivers/rtc/hctosys.c: unable to open rtc device (rtc0)

The trimslice has a EM3027 IC on the IC2-2 port according to the reference manual:

http://trimslice.com/download/documentation/trim-slice-man.pdf

So need rtc-em3027 module loaded and the /dev/rtc device created for the rtc. I don't see the module loading on my machine and don't see the /dev/rtc device being created.
