I think you should not bother with sunxi support, so far only some
very very minimal support has landed upstream, see:
http://linux-sunxi.org/Mainlining_Effort

There is no mmc nor nand support yet, so other then the ability to run
from ramdisk there is nothing there really ...

Other then that your plan sounds good :)

p.s.

I'm still working on creating sunxi F-18 images, I'm getting closer and
closer, but I keep hitting kernel issues ...
