Are you referring to IRC chat? If so,
There are lot of clients available but it is very easy to use a web
based IRC chat client.

http://webchat.freenode.net/

The above would be a good choice and enter the channel name as #fedora-classroom

If you want to install VIM on fedora you can use below command at the terminal.

yum install vim-X11 vim-common vim-enhanced vim-minimal
